The lack of Kotori meant S2 was inherently bad, regardless of what happened in it. :makina:

Well Kotori is awesome, I'll admit that, but I love date a live. No one can bash it and get away unharmed! :saber:

It's a pretty good adaption of the LNs and its original stuff, like the new movie, is great as well in my opinion.

There have been so many anime started out strong, but fell flat on its face as it descended into something generic and unoriginal. Or worse still, leaves EVERYTHING unanswered in the not-so-subtle AND NOW WE WAIT FOR A SEASON 2~~

One from recent times that I'd like to mention is Shimoneta. It was a clever concept, developed rapidly and had great twists, but after the initial bombshells about Anna were dropped, it falls into generic shonen-anime fare...

Don't worry, Date A Live 2 wasn't a letdown for me, because season 1 was so bad that I never watched season 2. :sachi:

I guess I already posted my usual example in this thread, but here's another: the Black Lagoon OVA. Season 1 was a fun premise, a good story, and kept introducing interesting characters. Season 2 took it to a whole new level, especially in the last arc, moving everything to a new setting that really let them change the mood and feel of the show effectively, while still keeping the soul and fun of the show intact. And then along came an OVA made of 100% pure fanservice, featuring a radical departure from character for pretty much everybody involved, and zero interesting events. I don't just want my time back, I want my mind back - but unfortunately it cannot be unseen.

Im perfectly aware that date a live wasnt a masterpiece, but I really loved the heroine cast tbh ALSO KURUMI WAS PRETTY GOOD AS WELL, DID I MENTION KURUMI IS FUCKING AMAZING AND PERFECT!?!!?!?!?!?!?!

Erhm....biggest let down was the last golden time episode, it felt so half assed and I literally just felt like I've wasted all the time where I watched it.

Spirited Away. No idea why, but compared to the others, it just didn't capture me anywhere near as much as i was hoping. It was still good, but at the end i was like 'wait, was that it?'

I think a lot of people remember Spirited Away from when they were children, a time where a movie of that type was just kinda mind blowing in all sorts of way.
I agree it's not the best movie Studio Ghibli made as well, although I personally still enjoyed the themes it tackled, but it's rather underwhelming near the end.

I still enjoyed it too, but compared to, say, Ponyo, which literally had me grinning uncontrollably non-stop the entire way and actually made me cry at the end, it was underwhelming indeed

Full marks for imagery though.

I enjoyed DAL, but I think people took it too seriously and that's why they didn't. Kurumi's presence is excellent in DAL, and I'm a big follower of Japanese voice actresses, so when I recently started watching K-On I couldn't get Kurumi out of my head whenever the teacher spoke in it since it was the same voice actress because of her amazing voice presence in DAL.

I didn't watch any Ghibli movies until I was already in college, so I don't have that childhood nostalgia thing going for me. I have, however, really enjoyed a lot of Ghibli movies (most notably Kiki, Howl, and Castle in the Sky). Despite that, I also didn't really "get" Spirited Away. The setting was amazing, but somehow the movie just didn't do much for me.

Log Horizon season 2 - I don't think even the writers know where they are going with it, lol... They could have focused a bit more - but atm it's really spread out, trying to tell too many stories at once.

Charlotte

Spoiler

Started interestingly enough, but then they pull time-travelling exmachina bullshit, wiping out the meaning of the hardships and growth.

Prisma Illya: I'm a huge Type Moon fanboy - but the way they handle Illya in that spinoff is just trashy - feels like they are whoring her and the Fate setting out for cash and popularity. "Let's see just how edgy and controversial we can make it without getting into trouble - viewers will LOVE it!"

(Saber Alter vs Archer Illya was the first and last awesome thing in that series)

But these are just the jaded opinions of one guy. :sachi:

The direction Date A Live took was really good in my opinion, I enjoyed the 2nd season much more than the first.

I will fite you

Golden Time 's ending was great, one of the better one's to a romance endings, and the anime still is my 4th favorite
