iamnoob Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Not sure if this is supposed to be here but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So as I have so professionally highlighted. I'm pretty sure that should read せつめ not whatever it's trying to say it is. Is this is the onyomi and the kunyomi readings? Or is this like VNR combining wrong words or something? If so how do I fix this cause this is not the only case. Another example Also I noticed only for this VN the text is separated so VNR separates them so I am unable to see the whole line at once. The VN shows 3 lines but only the last line will appear. The 1st 2 lines will appear normally but be replaced immediately once the line finishes at the 3rd line. Quote
Yuuko Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 It parses it wrong and then shows a wrong word. Dunno how to/can you fix it in VNR. What you are thinking of is 説明(せつめい)しよう and VNR thinks it's 説明し(ときあかし)よう I believe. 20 minutes ago, iamnoob said: Also I noticed only for this VN the text is separated so VNR separates them so I am unable to see the whole line at once. Get a H-code or try setting text speed to instant. Quote
Dergonu Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I don't know how to fix this in VNR, but if you get chiitrans, you can very simply just highlight the word and change the reading, or re-parse manually if it parses the words wrong. guide on how to install and run it: Deep Blue 1 Quote

Dergonu Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Just now, iamnoob said: That sounds nice and all but my Japanese level isn't high enough to be able to spot these mistakes easily... Hm, well there really isn't a way for the program to automatically detect its own mistakes. The actual parsing in both programs should be about the same, but in chiitrans its easier to change, if you do find some mistakes. If the sentence makes very little sense, maybe you can manage to spot some irregularities? Really don't know what else that could help. It is just a program after all, it's not a real person who can understand the setting and stuff in the sentence, so it often does make small parsing mistakes. Can't really avoid it. Quote
Deep Blue Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 like dergo said you can manually fix it with chiitrans, also the parser on vnr is really really bad, actually the parser in chiitrans is almost as good as Translation Aggregator and then vnr which is a mess and I would even call it worthless. Translation Aggregator>chiitrans>http://jisho.org/>anything else available>VNR parser > without editing anything. if you read my guide you will see that one of the main points I criticize from VNR is the parser itself sanahtlig 1 Quote

ChiiTrans can translate games too just like VNR and as far as parsing goes I've noticed it's pretty decent. The only downside is that you'll need additional software like ATLAS if you want to use the translation function (or use online translators like Google TL but I think you don't want that). If you must read with some form of translation, I would suggest trying it. Quote
sanahtlig Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Don't use VNR to parse. If you're going to use VNR, use it to hook only. Translation Aggregator provides the best parsing support because you can run two parsers at once (JParser and MeCab) and compare the results. ChiiTrans provides a manual correction feature but you're still left relying on a single parser. Quote
Clephas Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I hate to say this, but VNR sucks as a parser... its basic dictionary is even more unreliable than jparser, which isn't perfect either. Use it as a hooker, with TA (with Jparser or Mecab) as your parser. Even then, you are going to need to learn to recognize when it is giving you the wrong reading, but it is a lot less inaccurate. Tweek91330 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Yep, jparser and mecab for the win. Even then, there are still mistakes in japanese parsing and even some flat out wrong tl of some word. But with time it will be easier and easier to spot those mistakes (especially when you'll start too know multiples individual kanji reading and of course, if you think a little before taking every tl'ed word for face value). Deep Blue Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 btw 仲間 as chuugen technically isnt wrong, in pretty much all the cases will be wrong because well.. who the hell will use samurai attendant in a phrase? xD probably pretty archaic word too, I kinda wanna know why the parser decided to use that and not companion Quote
iamnoob Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 Been trying ChiiTrans but it doesn't seem to hook text from ChuableSoft VNs. All other Vns seem fine. Any ideas? Quote
Dergonu Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Probably means that you need an H-code. Dont know if these will work, but after a quick google search these came up at least. You can try them out. (Might mean that you need to use a different program to hook, and then copy the text to the clipboard for each line, as I'm not sure if you can put an H-code into chiitrans directly.) Spoiler [141128] [Chuablesoft] 残念な俺達の青春事情 OLD 1: /HB-8@577C0:残念な俺達の青春事情。.exe OLD 2: /HB-8*0@8CC44:残念な俺達の青春事情。.exe UPDATED: /HB-8*0:-20@8CC3C:残念な俺達の青春事情。.exe Works in ITH. It still needs improvement. Not tested on VNR.I'm satisfied with the updated code. I won't update the code anymore. I lied... The updated H code can hook the texts properly. Have fun playing the game. Quote
