I'm not totally sure I understand. Do you mean 'are there places and groups you can go to discuss VNs outside the internet'? (If that's not what you meant feel free to totally ignore me :wahaha:)

To which I'd say... I guess? Otaku conventions are a pretty safe bet, but aside from that I'm really not sure if there are any formal establishments. It's just look where the people might be?

Can confirm anime conventions are a decent place to talk about VNs, although even there most of the people won't know what you're talking about, or often will have certain preconceptions about "porn games". Additionally, MangaGamer representatives, if present on the show floor, will do their best to reinforce the aforementioned preconceptions.

Not gonna lie, Mangagamer lost a little respect for enforcing that preconception despite having 2 all ages VNs released in the last 2 months.

The day I see some VN Club at some skoo is the day Tay reveals himself to be Okami.

Tay, or should I say Aaeru, or should I say SolidBatman, or should I say Nayleen, or should I say Okami ... that Tay?

Wow, I wouldn't be surprised if he's half the forum in disguise at this rate ...

Well, I know you're Tay, and I know I'm not Tay, so half seems about right.

I could make one in my fapanese uni but too lazy + sickness so welp :rimu:

More seriously, it depend of the importance of the VN "market" (which isn't really a market outside Japan but I used "" so it's okay, right? ). Also I think it's the other way around, given few enlighted human found the worth in VNs manage to create a solid group/association, sooner or later it will draw attention and other human may recive the enlightenment, and once they grow enough a new group as solid as the first will be born, which in turn will enlight other human, spreading the VNs teaching faster and faster, always faster, never stopping, never ending, always growing, like a snowball rolling down a bottomless snowy pit. :kosame:

Also to answer the question it seems that there is one here, in France (namely KawaSoft)

That is what Mangagamer did. It doesn't help that they announce more physical copies of VNs than they do actual licenses.

They revel in the sexually tacky aspects of VNs nature. Their site and booths are examples of this and I cringe a little when I'm forced to navigate ... anything of theirs, really. You get the feeling you're visiting a naughty 18+ shop in an out-of-the-way section of a deserted area of the commercial district. Complete with gaudy flashing red bulb and sticky doorknob.

At SakuraCon I was hanging around the MangaGamer booth for a couple of minutes trying to chat with the staff. As much as I fed them hints about how I largely enjoyed VNs for story, plot, characters, and then tried to say positive things about their games like "I hear Kindred Spirits has a pretty solid story", I literally only got the response "Yeah, it's got gay ghosts!" (in the exact words of the staff).
