Saitama Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Hi, I registered just to make this thread but I'll probably stick around now. I found Fuwanovel from the Dramatical Murder translation and I need your help. I love visual novels but really don't know where to even start with becoming an informed fan. As a teenager I played some old mostly-porny officially localized VNs like Seasons of Sakura, True Love and Runaway City. I've gotten back into them when MangaGamer spearheaded their own translation/distribution of a game I'd never heard of at the time, No, Thank You!!! I absolutely love that one and have played it a ton. Next on my list that I'm excited to start is Dramatical Murder which was recommended by a friend but I really have no idea what to play after that or even where to start in the consideration process. My basic criteria are I prefer BL/yaoi, good art is a must (I realize this is subjective of course) and sex scenes are slightly preferred but hardly mandatory - I'd actually be kinda surprised to hear there's a quality BL visual novel without any sex in it. Also please recommend fully translated VNs - I've barely played any so I can afford to be picky still. Also if anyone knows if the makers of No, Thank You!!! are making anything else please inform me. Thanks for reading all this. Arcadeotic 1 Quote
Arcadeotic Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I'd recommend Togainu no Chi, if you haven't read it already Quote

Have you played it though? Is this a personal recommendation or just a suggestion? edit: Are you sure this is translated into english? I can't find anything to suggest it is but I'm probably doing it wrong. Quote

I've played a bit of it myself, but mostly it's from recommendations from friends As for the translation, there's one in its VNBD page: https://vndb.org/v434, and of course you can fine it if you dig around more You could also try out Lamento -Beyond the Void- Quote
Saitama Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 Those are both great recommendations. Lamento by itself might last me a really long time if I try to finish it. edit: Seems like Togainu no Chi isn't fully translated although I'm basing this assumption off internet threads from 9 years ago. edit2: It's fully translated, found the correct thread on Aarinfantasy by consulting the listing on Fuwanovel, should have done that from the beginning. Arcadeotic Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 There also really isn't any more translated Yaoi/BL titles aside from localized titles like No Thank You! and Yaoi Forever's titles. I'll list them for you, minus DRAMAtical Murder as it seems you've played that already. Lamento's Fandisc, Lamento Treasure Disc Togainu no Chi Hadaka Shitsuji Sweet Pool (Has a partial patch, full patch near completion, but chances are that the project's dead) DRAMAtical Murder re:connect Kichiku Megane (Partial patch) Quote
Silvz Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Togainu no Chi is fully translated indeed. However, I wouldn't recommend it, since the story is too forced, too fake, and is not as good as people may think. Dramatical Murder is far superior. I'd recommend you No, Thank You!!!, a BL novel that Mangagamer translated. It is incredible, both story and artwise, with a nice mechanic which is the "No, thank you" button. However, there are sex scenes in it, but I believe at least one of them will suit your tastes Quote

I actually just finished installing and patching Togainu no Chi but it's still not working so based on your recommendation I might just skip it for the time being. Is Nitro really the only game in town? Silvz 1 Quote
Saitama Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 Also it seems like the makers of NTY are working on another VN slated to come out this year. I hope enough people besides me bought NTY to justify localizing it. http://pa-rade.jp/rn9/http://19.04se.cc/2016/05/room-no-9-official-site-up/ Quote
Deep Blue Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I recommend you this one https://vndb.org/v1296 I'm not really into bl vns but I really enjoyed it, imo it's a little hidden gem, really short and the plot is not what you would expect. It doesn't have any eroge. Quote

Ryechu Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I would be remiss to not mention the project my team worked on: https://vndb.org/v6018 It's nearly 16 years old now... john 'mr. customer' smith 1 Quote

Can you tell me more about why you'd recommend this game? I'd love to get some in depth opinions. 1 hour ago, Palas said: You might be interested in Break Chance Memento. Good plot, cute characters and an interesting mechanic. No H-scenes, though. You can check out our Fuwareview too. This looks interesting and I can actually just buy it - perfect. Thanks a million. Ryechu Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 The reason my team likes Sukisho is twofold: 1) We're fans of the light novels, the anime, and all the extras. Duh. 2) (More importantly) Sukisho was one of the very first BL titles released, and if you're interested in seeing a title that helped shape a genre, this is definitely one to look at. (Proof). The art is excellent for such an old title, and it sort of set the stage for the "grimdark" titles (80% Grim, 20% fluff). Hello Ryechu, how far are translation of Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shouganai!! 2 -Target + Nights-? No comment. Quote
Saitama Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Yeah BL and yaoi in general definitely leans towards grimdark and tragedy for some reason. I blame fujoshi of course :V But I'm not so sure I can get over the incredibly 90's art style. Thank you for trying to help me though. Quote
