voidpointer Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Hey Community, I find it really difficult to keep track of VN/eroge english translation projects (either fan-based or from an actual company) that are newly released or close to releasing. Specifically, these are for VNs I haven't heard of yet. So I was wondering if there is a central place (RSS feed, twitter, forum topic, etc) where I can watch to keep track of when these projects complete. This has 2 benefits, one of which is obviously to learn when english translations are available, but also to learn about new visual novels. At the moment I happen to find out about new visual novels close to being translated via random comments on the web. I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of great VNs because of this. Thanks in advance for any advice!!! Quote
tahu157 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Besides Fuwanovel's own weekly updates post? That's where I get all my updates. Quote
Yuuko Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Weekly updates on Fuwa's blog? http://blog.fuwanovel.net/2016/07/visual-novel-translation-status-07022016/ Quote
Dergonu Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 That is pretty much the reason why the VNTS exists. It's a blog post put up every week going over coming patches, both official and fan translations. voidpointer Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Wow, I feel really dumb now. I didn't even notice the blog, I thought Fuwanovel was just a discussion community. My apologies, and thank you for the information. I also found http://moon.fuwanovel.net/, not sure how it is different but also seems to pull in blog posts from the fansites too. Quote

That aside, I do believe moon is severely outdated, or at least, it much less comprehensive than the previous blog you were shown. That one, too, includes fan translations. Quote

Firstly, @voidpointer, take note of the gentleman quoted above. His name is Tiagofvarela, and he's widely regarded as dangerous. Despite a generous bounty put on his head long, long ago, he's managed to dodge the judicious arm of the law, and even infiltrated deep into site staff. Just keep your eyes open. You never know when he's going to pop up. Secondly, you got lots of good advice on this! @Decay and I write VN translation status updates on the blog every week, so that's worth tuning into. I don't blame you for missing it, though: we actually have several "sites" as part of Fuwanovel, but they're currently a bit disjointed. That'll hopefully be fixed this weekend/next week, when they're all combined into one (at http://fuwanovel.net). So once that's up, you'll have to tell me if you think things improved on the visibility front. Thirdly, VNTL-Moon (http://moon.fuwanovel.net) is pretty cool, but it IS a bit outdated. I intend to get to it after the front site business is stable, though, so it should be a good resource again, soon. The way it works is that we pull the feed of translation teams' blogs. That means some groups (who don't have blogs, or feeds) can only be represented as links on the side, so that's a notable problem. The easiest way to keep up with news is thus ultimately our weekly VNTS posts on the blog. < 3 - Tay Mr Poltroon, Kenshin_sama, Darklord Rooke and 1 other 4 Quote
