edwd2 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Is it just me or have a lot of people left Fuwa, forums don't seem as active as it was when I first came here. Quote
Chronopolis Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 2011 Summer, start studying Japanese seriously. 2011 Summer or Fall, hear about saya no uta from a friend. Get depressed for 3 weeks. Depressed but hooked. Early 2012, play Katawa Shoujo just as it releases. Rest of 2012, play Ever17, bit of planetarium, Steins gate, Tsukihime, G-senjou no Maou, Kara no Shoujo Late 2012, Subarashiki Hibi OP catches my eye, over three months I play 50% of it. Never finished it to this day. Also played some of Une Fille Blanche. Sometime I also play some of Soshite Ashita no Sekai Yori, but get bored. December 2013 After a 8 month hiatus, the internet's out for a week, so I pick up Soshite Ashita no Sekai Yori again. Takes a month and I finish Minami's route <3. February 2014-July 2016 : I start reading UnTL'd novels continuously, along with a bunch of people from some old(!) Japanese VN skype group. There's been very slow months, but more or less I've been reading VN's (+ a few light novels) continuously since than. It would take more time to think about any trends or standout VN's from the last 2.5 years. Quote
Forgetful Frank Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 And then you have me: Started reading VN's late December 2015 with If My Heart Had Wings. Found Fuwanovel in January 2016 after finding out about and hunting down a restoration patch for IMHHW. Befriended some cool Fuwa-spammers who helped me out a lot with recommendations. Fast-forward several months, it's now July 2016 and I made the mistake of starting too many VN's and now I'm all over the place. I'll bounce back and get through this, though! And then I'll start one VN at a time, or maybe have two simultaneously at most. Khazit 1 Quote
Sasku Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 First VN I read back in... 2007 or 2008 was Wind -a breath of heart-, which wasn't enough to hook me into the whole VN thingy sadly since I was hooked on anime at the time. It didn't help that my friends only thought of VNs as more or less porn so I couldn't seriously discuss anything VN related with them. Odd thing is I continued to read various VNs in very short bursts around once a year after that for quite a while. And by short bursts I really mean short, something like reading 2 VNs back to back in a few days then repeat after a year or more. Fast forward to last year and I think I'm slowly getting hooked, thanks to stuff like KnS 2, I/O and Majikoi complete patch. Now instead of months/years between VNs it's more like weeks. Quote
andzalot55 Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I started VNs around 2015 where of course NEKOPARA being my first VN to read. Because of it, I considered reading VNs throughout my college experience, I don't regret one bit. I am still a novice but I plan to continue on reading VNs and to end my cycle of being a novice. Comfy Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 I remember first typing visual novel into Google out of curiosity after hearing my friend talk about it And stumbled upon this website, I then filtered the list and found Sharin no kuni ranked pretty high so I tried it and enjoyed it. Then came Clannad then Tomoyo's after story because she's the best girl, Little Busters, I still wasn't into visual novels much still until I started playing Majikoi and Sengoku Rance then I started enjoying the games. However my interests have changed a bit I've been playing more "Dark" visual novels and getting into some weird shit. And I've also been teaching my self Japanese for a few months now, so I could read even more weird shit. Life is gr8. Quote
