Learning Japanese for the purpose of reading visual novels

Hello, I'm new to the Fuwanovel forums (or forums in general), but I was wondering if there are some good resources the people of this community can share with me to learn Japanese.  I'm primarily interested in learning Japanese to read untranslated visual novels and manga.  From what I've seen it seems like a lot of people suggest Genki and Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Might I suggest that you consider to read these VNs to test your Japanese out?

Or alternatively, you can just use machine translators and learn Japanese by playing these VNs.
