The visual novel game follows an original story different from the original work and anime called “Another Episode with the Candidates for Next Ruler.”

The story sees a “Beauty Queen Election” carried out as a prelude to the “Next Ruler Election,” the winner of which is given a “noble weapon said to bring about good luck.” But the victory prize is actually cursed and afflicts Subaru with the “Curse of Death.” The only way to lift the curse is a “kiss from a beautiful girl,” so players will have to socialize with the heroines with the end goal of getting a kiss and escaping Subaru’s fate of death.

The candidates for the “Beauty Queen Election” are as follows: Emilia, Ram, Rem, Beatrice, Felt, Priscilla, Anastasia, and Crusch.

I've given up on the Vn. I'll be honest with you guys, what i expect was something deeper from them. Something new.

Basically i was hoping they would use the Vn to expand on the world itself since they've ignored that and focused on characters in the anime. As a reader who loves lore and world building Re:zero didn't really strike me.

The reason why i (and i think most of us) still pick up anime that have the theme "Transported to another world/game world" is not for the bland characters they throw, but for the world itself.

What are the rules of the world? How do the decisions affect the non important characters? How do the main characters make an impact on the world?

I will give three examples;

Sword art online- Focused on the characters only and KiritoxAsuna. All we got to know what that (1) you can die. (2) it's a game world (3) Kirito can always survive by pulling bullshit out of his ass

No game No life- Focused on both in equal measure. We had our fair share of character development and World building. I.e The games, continents, Lore and effects were well done.

Log horizon- Focused mostly on the world and how it worked. This is by far my favourite "transported to another world" show because we were given generic characters (they even pointed it out) and were made to watch as they changed the world and the world changed them. 10/10 would adopt Akatsuki-chan.

and for Re:zero, it's somewhere between SAO and No game no life. I was hoping the VN would focus on the world itself, on the history of Satella, what she did, what she made, how she affected the world, the dragon, what it did, how it affected the world. Etc

While the author may have planned to release this over time in his work, too little is being told to us and being shoved for later... which is really not cool.

I thought AoT is more shounen. Re:Zero is mystery anime foremost. All of that above you mentioned will probably be explained in 2nd season anime(it's pretty much called for).

Log Horizon is definitely good, by far my fav of current "stuck in game world" anime. Season 2 sucks though, mainly because it has more mainstream shounen feel.

Well, if the author is truly involved in the VN production, then we can expect more than slice of life. IF that is.

Nevertheless, 8 girls though.
