kazameltis Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hello guys. I'm starting this forum for those aspiring to be animators and manga artists. I'm also aiming for that goal, but still practicing my art. Hopefully I will reach the goal. Here we can discuss on how to better ourselves as animators and manga artist. So discuss anything you want related on how to better make animations and what kind of programs out there we can use making anime. Even techniques on coloring, movement and many more :)/> Quote
Okami Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I am intrestet to know what programs people usually use to make original anime art? Quote
Dizzyworld2 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Most people that I know that do digital art use Paint Tool SAI and/or Photoshop. I'm pretty interested in the animating (non-gifs) process and steps. Quote
kazameltis Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Well SmithMicro has some good programs for that. Anime Studio http://anime.smithmicro.com/index.html And Manga Studio http://manga.smithmicro.com/index.html?__utma=95568716.1897185272.1373003032.1373771841.1374016787.10&__utmb=95568716.4.10.1374016787&__utmc=95568716&__utmx=-&__utmz=95568716.1373771841.9.6.utmcsr=google|utmccn=%28organic%29|utmcmd=organic|utmctr=%28not%20provided%29&__utmv=-&__utmk=4658299 Well there is a program used for anime called Retas but unfortunately it's only available in korea, china, and of course japan. The USA used to have it, but now it's been discontinued and there are no plans to put it out as export. And even if you did find it it's not compatible with Windows 7. Also if you get it abroad from Japan you'd only get the japanese version, so too bad Well hopefully you guys out there have some good advice on this kinds of things. This is the work of someone on youtube. It's not official but I have to admit I love the animation. Quote
kazameltis Posted July 20, 2013 Author Posted July 20, 2013 Guys i found this program that uses cells as a animation much like traditional animation Digicel Flipbook is a great program that gives you a lot of creative freedom, too bad there are limited tutorials for this. http://www.digicelinc.com/index.htm Is anyone interested in joining together to make your own anime? Quote
Okami Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I will try myself at it to see if I am any good, if it turns up I have a talent for it... Well let's not get too far ahead, for now I will just see what can I do with it. Quote
meru Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Man I wish I could draw I wanna see other people's art though, so please post your stuff here! Yeah Way 1 Quote
kazameltis Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Well making anime isn't just about drawing, there is also coloring and effects and they're important too if you want to make some quality anime. I want you guys to download this program and try practicing with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmsLhhYKcjY All the links are in the description and and they lead to a mediafire link. According to what i read about this program Retas has been used to make most of the anime we enjoy today. Well the list is long so i won't go into detail http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RETAS http://www.celsys.co.jp/en/products/retas/share.html There are some online tutorials on youtube so try to tinker with them. I'm still practicing on using stylos. Also please remember to have fun :)/> Quote
CaptainBigButt Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I have no idea what official programs are used for anime in Japan, though a popular American program is called Toon Boom. Other than that, you could always start simple with Adobe Flash Professional. I'm sure people would come up with some silly shorts using that, but I wouldn't go for top quality animations right away. Anime teams are full of however many people they feel they need, but to get started you'd be alone. It shouldn't be too bad as long as you don't expect it to be the best thing ever on the first go. It's never too late to learn if you actually want to draw. I've only just started getting "serious" about drawing a few weeks ago. Quote
Forythos Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I did some animation using Corel Painter when I was in art school, quite a few years ago, but I never tried my hand at actual anime/cartoons, it's pretty much always been short "art" films. I've been meaning to try out animating characters eventualy, but never got around to it. >_>;; (Though I did work a little on character animation using Softimage XSI, but it's been forever since.) I really enjoyed working with Painter, though the animation part is probably done way better in software actualy dedicated to the medium. Quote
CaptainBigButt Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Actually since this is a visual novel forum, it reminded me of one thing. I just started on Katawa Shoujo for the fun of it and there are about half a dozen short animations for some different things in it. They're actually pretty good, and since it was made by a third-party team on 4chan, I'm sure someone out there could find out what program was used for that stuff. Quote
