VNs with English as native language

Hello everybody ^^

As a Linux user is really difficult to me (and a lot of people I know from the ubuntu community) applying english patches to the .exe files, so talking with people who have the same problem we took the resolution of playing VNs that are already in english as "Katawa Shoujo" or "My girlfriend is the president", because nobody had problems with them. So if someone could post here some download links of VNs which have english as native language that'd help so much to all the ubuntu erogamer community. Of course, i will link here as the info source ;)/>

These are often called "OELVNs" (Original English Language Visual Novels), and you'll find a bundle by googling that term.

The biggest collection of OELVNs on the net can be found using the Lemmasoft forums or on http://games.renpy.org/. These are all homemade VNs of varying quality (Katawa Shoujo is among their ranks), but some are commercial grade. Then you have things like Love Sniper which are cooky but fun.

Ren'py is meant to be compatible with Windows PCs, Macs, and Linux computers. If you have trouble running one or more VNs made with Ren'py on your system, then ask for help on the Lemma Soft forums.

If you ask me, the term seems unwieldy and overly specific. It excludes VNs released on day one in multiple languages, such as some of Roseverte's indie games. It also excludes works written in other languages. (I say this because there are a few fans who write visual novels in French, Thai, Czech, and other languages.) Finally, it seems to be based on a marketing term that was first used in 2005 in order to sell comics.

If I need to specifically talk about visual novels written in English, then I might use terms such as "EVN" (English visual novel), "freeware VN" (but only when referring to non commercial products), and/or "indie VN" (when discussing products sold by groups and individuals).

You can also search the VNDB. Start by going to http://vndb.org/v/all, and then use the filter Original Language. The results should include freeware and indie games. There will be some projects which aren't archived on games.renpy.org, and some which didn't originate on Lemma Soft. Also, keep in mind that the VNDB doesn't often include "sim date" games (made with Flash or other programs), text-heavy RPGs, or works-in-progress created by people who have not already released a game.

Try out Narcissu, it isn't an english native VN, but it does have a linux version.
