nmynnd Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 So I downloaded and installed Grisaia, and it has encountered some kind of error. I checked the forums, and thanks to the error translation guide, I figred out that it is "direct X ?????? failed". This is the error. puu.sh/474xl.png I am running a windows xp with direct x 9 installed. dbzfan323 1
Cryptah Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Did you link wrong picture? I don't see any errors. Also I am not sure, but I think it does require direct X 10
Luch Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 DirectX 9c is enough to run Grisaia. Try running the directx updater and reupload the screenshot of that error if that doesn't work.
shcboomer Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I don't see an image of the error there, but you should try updating directX. If that doesn't work repost the screenshot.
nmynnd Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY. That was the stupidest thing.... I added a letter on accident, and it became a random french conversation... Heres a new and improved screenshot. I just updated it directx, and tried to reinstall. I will try finding direct x 10, but i dont think it works for xp... Also, my japanese friend said that the error meant DirectX Error-Failed to Restart DirectX. http://puu.sh/49rXZ.png
Luch Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 DirectX 10 and higher will not work on XP. Try updating your GPU drivers.
Legendary Taco Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Hi there, I actually made an account here because I've been getting the same exact error on Windows 7. My directx is fully updated (on 9 and 10 at least), and so is my GPU. I have no idea what would be causing it to fail.
Luch Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Please post your dxdiag log here. On Windows 7 write dxdiag to start menu search. On Windows XP press start->run->write dxdiag->ok. Click "save all information" and paste the contents of that txt file here.
Legendary Taco Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Never mind, I just fixed it. Seems I was trying to run the game directly, bypassing the bootmenu. OP, you should make sure you're running bootmenu.exe and not grisaia.exe; that fixed the problem for me.
nmynnd Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 oh shit, that fixed it. 0.0. Thanks for all of your help guys.
