dpantski Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hi everyone! I have a problem running the English version of this game. Both the exe in the "Unimeko Chiru English" folder and the exe in the "Unimeko8" folder don't run the game and give me the following error (I can provide a screenshot if necessary but I'll include everything here in text. These files cannot be opened. Your internet security settings prevented one or more of files being opened. Clicking on the little details arrow underneath just shows the file path and nothing else. I have tried compatibility mode with windows 7 + XP, I tried making the exe in the unimeko8 folder run as administrator with no change. I used windows help but again that didn't really help either. Fuwanovel isn't blocked in my internet options as far as I can tell and my Microsoft security essentials doesn't have anything related to this quarantined. And yes I have the locale set to Japanese. Funnily enough the exe in the main "Unimeko No Naku Koro ni Chiru" folder seems to work fine. I assume I'm not meant to be using this though as the readme says to use the exe in the Unimeko 8 folder for the sprites and voices. Also its in Japanese so uhh... not very useful for me. In short I'm asking..... help? edit - I should mention this is with the 5-8 version, I didn't realize there was a 1-4 so I don't know if I'll have this problem with both. edit 2 - Ok same issue with 1-4 when I try running the exe. Also can an admin rename the title of this thread as I went and typo'ed. Sorry about that!
Dokugogagoji Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Check if the executable is not marked as "downloaded from internet". Simply right click on it and press proprieties. If it is blocked as downloaded executable, you should see a button "Unblock". Press it and confirms. More specifically, this button:
dpantski Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Hi Check if the executable is not marked as "downloaded from internet". Simply right click on it and press proprieties. If it is blocked as downloaded executable, you should see a button "Unblock". Press it and confirms. More specifically, this button: This button doesn't appear in any tab let alone the general one. I went through them all and didn't see any unblock option. I did google the problem and it came up with some interesting results. Firstly this The solution.... shorten the file name. Yep, Too long of a file name..... The file name was way back in a few unzipped directories with long names that i was trying to run, and i guess there's a 260 character max limit before windows dont bother with the file This seems kinda silly to me and sounds like something else was changed at the same time which actually fixed the problem, however the long folder names involved in the Unimeko download/unzipping makes me wonder if this is my problem too... 2 mins later... It worked! I shorted the folder names and now the exe works fine for both 1-4 and 5-8 English versions with PS3 voices and sprites. Thanks for trying to help Dokugogagoji!
