Same here, and she was so strong willed too. Something sadistic in me really enjoys how Yamato can reduce even the strongest of the women of Majikoi into his personal playthings once he has begun working his magic.

Oddly enough I really don't like how Yamato's mother is presented I guess I have a limit to my sadism. <_<

I demand saki route!!!!

Wee I was away for a few days. At least I'll (hopefully) be able to have a few laughs.

wow, i missed quite a bit today, just finished reading through all of it.

i'd have to support Jun on the earlier argument

I very rarely dive into the realm of nukige, but MGQ was one that i did really enjoy

The best thing about MGQ was Luka's magically disappearing pants that always seemed to vanish whenever an enemy was nearby.

So that they don't get damaged in any way. I call it smart thinking!

As one would expect from Aoi's best friend!

while in full tangent mode, have any of you played any of the Etrian Odyssey or Fire Emblem games (obviously the guy with "Emblem" in the name has to ask)?

I personally love the damn near masochistic difficulty that the Etrian Odyssey games have when you do your first run through... especially the first EO, that was pure fun-filled hell.

Man, i haven't posted here for quite a while. And discussion really never goes down. I guess it's cool because i like just to be here)) After last pages i want to play Majikoi S even more now. Just need to find time for this((

Unfortunatelly, despite of a lot of games i'm playing, i just started the first EO, but didn't go far due to other games i have to play(( Same with Fire Emblem. I hope i'll find time in the future to play some of these games, besides as far as i know they are very good.

I played a Fire Emblem game, but the one I played the most was the latest one, the one for the 3DS. It's pretty good, and decently tough if you want to recruit everyone and lose noone.

Ofc, as an official lolicon, I made the MC go for the dragonkin little girl!

Ah fire emblem, I think that I give myself an unnecessary Masochistic relationship with fire emblem series even when playing on the hardest settings I feel that If I let anyone die I have failed and so I begin my marathon of rage-quits and retries.

I just can't bring myself to do an Iron man run through of the game I end up caring about the characters too much.

Sure thing. As I said, I do this because as a student of the english language and linguistics, it's pretty much important and benefitial that I put importance into this sort of things.

It's not a "I'm right and everyone must kneel to me"

Beneficial. Capitalize English. Always. Also, 'I do this as a student,' or 'I do this because I am a student,' not 'I do this because as a student.'

I am also a student of the English language and linguistics, as well as a starter in Japanese. This obviously allows me to correct you.

So, I've been gone for a while. What I miss?

The only thing really bad about Agarest was it's combat system it was actually a good idea just really poorly implemented.

A grid combat system just doesn't work with a game as grindy as Agarest they should have went for something more palatable for its grind.

looks like we were at equal posts before i posted this Draconos

Also, i've never played Agarest, I have some of the music and have heard a lot about it but have never actually got any of them. How's the gameplay, is it a massive grid based SRPG like the older Fire Emblems or is there something more to it? You mentioned grinding Abyssal

Honestly if it were more like fire emblem it probably would have been a better game but....

The combat system is like this.

(No spoilers in this post just example images)

agarest-fight1.jpg

Everything is based on a grid which while similar to fire emblem doesn't mean you can place your allies as specifically as you want basically you want to place them where you can connect to your other party members via the green lines for optimal attack strength which means that sometimes you will have to leave yourself open to attacks from behind which I believe you suffer extra damage from just so you can use your party's full strength to chain attacks on a certain enemy.

Basically you want them chained so that you can all attack in the same turn. Meaning that there is no real reason to move your units to a spot where they are not connected even if it seemed more tactically viable its simply not worth it. Connecting to allies basically becomes the one mechanic that every round of combat revolves around.

Normally this may not be so bad but the problem is with the length of the grind.

system_worldmap.jpg

See all of those dots on the map? They are how you get around the world and the first time you take a step on one of those orbs means that non-story oriented combat will be initiated meaning that to even progress in this game you have to enter the same monotonous combat system over and over again until you reach your destination and the plot finally advances.

The really bad part about this is that the story is really long due to having three different generations of protagonists which means that you have to clear these sorts of maps three different times not including dungeons which on harder difficulties you will want to enter for the sole purpose of even more grinding as they are the only source of continuous combat because luckily once you have cleared one of the spaces there will no longer be an enemy there, yet even after all the combat you went through just getting around the map there you still will need more to beat the bosses on higher difficulty. Really its not even hard the combat is just far too tedious to want to complete it on anything but an easier setting.
