Funyarinpa Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Metroid Prime is pretty good but just got somewhat annoying. I loved Phendrana Drifts but nooo, you had to build a goddamn lab on top of it and ruin the sad, beautiful atmosphere. Fuck The Lab. Quote
Zebhra Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Just played Tales from the Borderlands episode 3, was a bit meh, especialy compared to two previous awesome episodes. Love story feels kinda forced, and story telling abit slow, but im still have faith in thisone Quote
LiquidShu Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Slowly going through Valdis Story: Abyssal City, as well as Life is Strange.  So far, I really, really enjoy Valdis Story. It's like a beat em' up meets platform meets RPG. In both of the introductory characters Wyatt and Reina, or something like that, they both have a distinct feel. The combat is smooth and very enjoyable, especially boss fights. The only gripe I have is the platforming occasionally feels iffy.  Moving onto Life is Strange. When I first bought this I legit thought it was made my Telltales. As I loved the first season of TWD, and soon to play TWDS2, I was pretty excited to play Life is Strange. Going into it, I knew nothing at all and was met with a SE logo. Nothing wrong with that, I said OK, and moved on.  After completing the first episode I don't know where I stand on the game. All of the characters feel solid and the story is making me want to get deeper into it. The thing that, as of now, that is holding the game back for me are the characters I said that were solid. The main character, Max, doesn't make sense to me sometimes. I realize it is a game, but she could have used her powers numerous times, especially, since she doesn't know of any repercussions, or thinks about them. Another is I honestly dislike Chloe so far. -Spoilers- I picked the option to save her from her step dad and say it was my weed. She then proceeded to pull out a gun that her step-dad asked her if she stole from him. Of course at the time she said she didn't. Now she is talking about going and popping a cap in Nathan Prescott. Like OK bitch too much for me.  Also, I am just a pretty judgy person, typically only in my head. So a lot of the characters I just don't like for pretty much no reason at all Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Life is strange is made by DONTNOD, and published by Square Enix, just to say. Quote

So a lot of the characters I just don't like for pretty much no reason at all   Oh yes...Valdis story is good, it have so much Castlevania feel in it, i completed game for both characters and just for me it felt like guy with sword is a bit easier (the last boss was pretty damn strong for both of em), and yes i liked the monk gameplay more.   As for the life is strange *light spoiler inside* i am completly agree with you, i dont like Chloe too, i think she is the one who will get you in serious troubles..the heck, she even may be the reason of that tornado. I remained hidden in that closet and i didnt saw that gun, but it will come up later and man, she stole a friggin gun, with an actual bullets and waving it around to have fun. Plus she is too excited about your powers, i wish there were option not to tell her...but oh well....instead we got option to hide it from this nice guy who have crush on Max. About Max..i actualy like her, but i got a feeling thers no happy end for her, maybe shes dead already, the whole time system gives me alot of Ghost Trick vibes (wich is amazing game btw). And her powers have a sideffect, so maybe thats why she dont overuse them. Also in the second episode, in shower on the mirror thers a link to Kate's club video...and there is actualy a site there... Fred the Barber Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Â This. Forever. Â Not only does it completely remix and make exciting again the best Final Fantasy, it even includes an Ancient Cave mode which is basically the Ancient Cave bit from Lufia 2, FF6 style. There is also an Ancient Cave romhack for Final Fantasy 5, but I don't feel confident enough in my knowledge of that game to attempt it. Â So, like, you play through all of FF6 with everything (literally everything from colors to abilities to what magic each Esper gives you) randomized and then if you ever get tired of doing that you can do the 200+ floor randomized dungeon runs. Â It's essentially the game no one who likes Final Fantasy should ever stop playing. I'm pretty sure I won't. Ever. Â That is nuts. If I had more willpower, I would tear myself away from playing Destiny all the time and play that instead. Â But I don't have willpower, so I'm still playing Destiny all the time. Quote
kooolm Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Borrowed Watch Dogs from a friend of mine. Is it any good? Quote
SilverLi Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 CK2. The awesome feeling when you assassinate your own children to secure the succession. I also saw a brother spread his seed far and wide. I think he had 25 children... Also doing some Civ5 MP with Fuwa people whenever I can. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Had enough frequent slowdowns to drop Metroid Prime (emulating) for the time being.  Downloaded the free mod Portal Stories: Mel, playing that.  Besides that I finished Hotline Miami 1 on the Vita, I am planning to platinum it later on- for now, I think on the Vita I will focus on getting the platinum for Danganronpa. It's on low priority though.  I'll finish the one game I have going on Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, then I'll shelf it.  Playing Alien: Isolation at nights, yesterday the Alien started hunting me for the first time and it is so good. I'm saying this as someone who is very easily frightened but I still enjoyed it so much. I might not drop it because I am too scared, after all.  I think I'll finish Deadcore after AC, I heard it is short and I don't like the later levels enough to try to speedrun them.  After that, I'll probably move on to Psychonauts, then maybe finish up a few casual games from my childhood (Insaniquarium and Slyder Adventures).  Then I have The Witcher to play, but by that time Ramadan will likely be over (I shouldn't play TW before Ramadan ends lol) and after that if I still have time I'll probably play a few VNs. Turnip Sensei Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I'm still playing FF X. Im nearing the end I do believe. The game has been fun so far but hasn't really lived up to the hype. Quote
Decay Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I had similar experience with FFX. The story was nice and all, but it never reached the levels I was expecting. Certainly not the "best love story in a video game" people were praising it to be.  People were maybe saying that in 2001. Anyone still saying that are wearing some heavily rose-tinted glasses. The voice acting is abysmal, for one, so that's a pretty big negative for that kind of experience. The story itself is not that special, either. But there wasn't much in the way of romance in mainstream games back then (and there still isn't). Fred the Barber 1 Quote

TexasDice Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I'm playing the everloving hell out of the Witcher 3. I got the combat down, sort of and even managed to kill a level 14 basilisk at level 6. Still desperately searching for Witcher gear tho. Â The contracts are by far my favorite quests. In theory, these are just more "talk to x, search for y and kill y"-quests. but it's actually a lot of fun to do them. Contracts give me the feeling of hunting these monsters like a pro. Â So far, I made trophies out of the Griffin, Noonwraith, Cockatrice and grave hag. I'd do more, but leveling takes fucking forever in this game. Quote
Decay Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 The main quest lines and the significant secondary quest lines (such as the kiera ones) dish out XP at a really good rate, so do those if you want some levels. Quote
Getsuya Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 That's because it is all manner of awesome. Tough though. I'm kind of caught between the starter and advanced level missions. I can clear all the beginner level missions almost too easily, and more and more guys are turning Level 3 and refusing to go on easy missions anymore, but when I go on advanced missions, even with a party full of level 3s, I get thrashed. One of the main problems is I don't have enough money to upgrade them all as much as I would like and they're all stuffed full of negative quirks from all the past missions. Should I be taking this slower, taking time to heal everyone of their ailments and build up more money? I feel like I might be rushing things. Quote

But there wasn't much in the way of romance in mainstream games back then (and there still isn't).  This. When it came out, FFX was far and away the best romance story in a game, and also had easily the most drama in a mainstream RPG. The mere fact that it had so much voice acting was also a big deal. Nowadays, it's probably only playable for nostalgia factor (and blitzball, which is actually really fun). Quote
