Not really feeling Persona 3 Portable. Will need some time to adjust to how the gameplay works and the presentation. (VN storytelling, cursor to pick stuff, little stick support (having to use D-pad for battle, saving etc. is annoying), bad text and image quality, etc.)

Junpei's pissed me off with his "see how nice a person I am!" line as soon as he was introduced. Mitsuru and Yukari seem nice, and I'm pretty sure the school board director (forgot his name) is voiced by Igor's VA. Haven't had any day for myself yet though, and P4G wasn't fun by this point either. Not worried at all. Somewhat digging the relatively muted color palette.

The music is definitely great.

Playing as MaleMC since it's closer to the original.

Persona 3 fairly different from 4 in terms of themes and how the group dynamic are handled. This time it's not just fun and games, rainbows and friendships.

But it's pretty much up the preferences which these styles you happen to prefer. I personally like 3 more; the main story is better and I feel the way the characters are handled and integrated to the story is better, but that's just me.

Well, in terms of gameplay 3 has some inconveniences compared to 4 and especially Golden, but it's minor. Even Tartaros is kind of acquired taste, the reactions can range from "worst dungeon in all video games" to "Interesting way to portray progress and working towards a goal".

brb guys, starting up FF7

~~
Played close to an hour of FF7.

FF7 is actually quite nice and the graphics, save for the AGONIZING character models, actually don't look bad on Vita. Had to swap X and O due to O being bound to Use and X being bound to Cancel.

Liked the gameplay.

As for the story, Midgar sounds like an amazing dystopia. I might actually like this game's story, which is great. As for characters, nothing exceptionally good or bad so far.

Overall, it exceeded my low expectations. Was this another 70 hour RPG?

I paused playing FF: Type-0 and got back to Lufia II on my good old SNES. I recently cleaned the console und bought some carts I used to own when I was a kid. Now I'm trying to 100% the game for the first time ever. I really struggled back when I was young. :wahaha:

But since Digimon: Cyber Sleuth will arrive within the end of the week I'll probably have to stall Lufia, too...^^

All my other games are on hold it's XCOM time. I'm making an entire unit of characters based off of visual novels (The 207th) before I delve into the main game.

Plan to knock out SAO: Hollow Fragment & SAO: Lost Song, and maybe Tales of Hearts R this month

Anyone who's played the SAO games and watched the anime want to brief me? :kosame:

The first half of season 1 of SAO is worth watching, assuming you don't mind obvious male chauvinism, and the second half is terrible. Given how the second half of season 1 went, the second season is probably garbage.

Given how things tanked after the first arc, I expect the games are awful, but I have yet to hear anything at all about them, which is frankly possibly even more disturbing than a simple "yay" or "nay". So, uh... good luck? Maybe go play Senran Kagura instead or something.

Lots of hype for xcom 2 it seems, I never even finished the first one, so I doubt I'll get the second one, the first one was good, but just unpleasant for me, probably because its the first time where I made choices that matter, and everything didn't go as planned, the damn base building.....so it was really fun, helluva fun, the combat and strategy part, but the commander part was not so much fun in my opinion.  That being said, I'm currently playing sunless sea and Helldivers, I'm really getting a kick out of helldivers, top down shooter that has Friendly fire, so much fun, it would be nice to have a couple friends to play with, I remember playing the top down shooter alien swarm with friends, and it was blast.

Been a long time since I posted, a bit of an update with out going in-depth (per usual).

I am really going hard on my backlog to try to get it cleared up. Just to clarify, my backlog is games that I have purchased and are still downloaded on my handhelds/consoles. Which means if I once owned a physical copy but traded it in I am not going back, if I have trophy % on my PSN trophy list I am not going back, only games that meet the set criteria. Even with that restriction in place I have about 10 - 15 games to go through :vinty:

Since I started though (about two weeks ago), I have beaten Onechanbara Z2: ChaosYo-Kai Watch, and Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. I should beat Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus today as well. And to clarify once more, I consider the game beat once I get the story related trophies out of the way, which typically cover the whole story. This includes trophies such as Persona 4 Golden's where it involves getting the true ending. So no misc trophies, no side quests, none of that. Just going straight for the goal.

Once I am done with SKSV, I will probably continue Conception II or Monster Monpiece

Holy damn Trails of Cold Steel was amazing!
I can easily put it right next to Persona 4 Golden as one of the absolute best games on Vita. What an awesome experience.

And now I want to play Trails of Cold Steel II so badly...

Maybe it'll be like with Trails in the Sky, and we are in for a wait of 4-5 years :D

Didn't ToCS Limited Edition come with a second slot for the sequel? Hard to imagine they'd to that and then not bring the second game over quickly.

Do consider that they also wanted to bring Trails in the Sky SC (just realized that it's "TitS" lel xD) as soon as possible, but it took all those years due to constant problems, misunderstandings with Falcom, etc. There's actually the story explained in a Kotaku article (one of the main guys in the project nearly suicided, so go imagine). http://kotaku.com/the-curse-of-kiseki-how-one-of-japans-biggest-rpgs-bar-1740055631

Have some good news for you Trails fans but Trails of Cold Steel 2 is expected by the end of 2016. It was in a question/answer thing on twitter a while back. I'm hoping trails of cold steel 1 eventually comes to PC I would love to play it but I also have a dead-ish ps3 at the moment and gave up consoles. I play an hour of TitS when I can but for the most part I play only an hour or two a week simply due to other games being released...like xcom 2 for example.

I'm currently playing XCOM 2 and getting my ass handed to me repeatedly. My first character creations were 30 characters from the various muv-luv games. I just beat the tutorial and the first mission after that but I've misclicked quite a few times due to needing to get used to the new controls/mechanics. Hell I blew my squad up with a grenade trying to cancel throwing it. Definitely fun though.

I've also started playing Fire Emblem Awakening for the third or fourth time in anticipation for Fire Emblem Fates (all the removed content is annoying as hell but I'm done with nintendo after the 3DS is replaced anyway so whatever). I'm looking forward to birthright, conquest, and invisible kingdom as each game is vastly different than the others from what I've heard.

All the other games on my currently playing list are stalled however for a pretty long while most likely.

Can you please explain this to me? To my knowledge I don't know of any actual core gameplay changing content that has been cut in either one of these games.  The only thing that comes up is Fates cutting a petting minigame, which to be fair, has no right to be there anyway taking a historic look at the franchise.

Originally the removal of the touching minigame was believed to take out the way to level up supports and the dialogue options with those supports but that was changed (whether fan anger or they realized from the beginning we may never know) and while I may not give a damn about the waifu/husbando touching simulator the fact they removed it still irks that part of me which despises this type of censorship. The other main issue is the loss of dual audio which is annoying but understandable due to licensing issues (one of the voices in the game is a debut singer and the music industry is worse than the anything else). Nintendo can also now use youtube as a form of advertisement without the fear of japanese companies constantly taking the videos down for copyright claims. So again it's annoying. I also don't trust Nintendo at all and I fully expect to see more censorship and more localization changes that will irk me before the end but it would be nice if we've discovered all the big ones already. Admittedly locking older characters behind amiibos is yet another issue I have with Nintendo in general. Why put game content locked behind a figure? They should at least give an option to get the content outside of bloody amiibos. Hell just the fact they split this game into 3 when they could have easily done 1 game with 2 routes and a third route dlc bothers me...even though I can argue for this as well...a lot of the people who bought the original 3DS only had a 2 GB memory card so maybe they thought they could save people money by allowing people to buy the games separately.  I could rant about Nintendo's horrible youtube policies, how they deal with content creators, how they deal with localizations (using censorship), there habit of releasing systems only to release new systems less than a year later sometimes with said system only getting 3-4 games (New 3DS really?), and the list could continue on and on as I have many reasons for my dislike of Nintendo but let's not turn this into a rant again Nintendo thread (just one post).

Despite all this I am still looking forward to the games. Conquest looks like it will be like the early Fire Emblem games...or at least that is what it is being propped up as. It still looks fun both versions and I fully plan to buy the dlc (route) and potentially the map dlc as well. I really enjoyed Awakening and even Radiant Dawn and Sacred Stones so I have hope these will live up to the hype...shame Nintendo will never come to pc though since I will miss their games even if I won't miss the company.

I've been playing nothing but XCOM 2 for the last few days. Maybe tomorrow I can finish my first campaign. I started it on the Commander difficulty (classic/hard mode) and it feels like a lot of fights are becoming trivial. Although it's annoying that it feels like taking some damage is unavoidable in almost every mission and the injury timers are really high, I guess they want you to have a deeper roster than the one I've been going with.
