Kurisu-Chan Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I'm just curious, that's all. so, talking about my shogun 2 game : the situation is rather hard for me, the biggest clan nowadays is the Kurisutan Otome clan, with like HALF of japan on their hands. At my right, the Takeda have conquered everything and decided to charge at me (how foolish) and some other minor clans that will prolly disappear. And i'm at the middle, with a fractured territory, i have a powerful army and a good enough economy, but my territories aren't unified, basically, i have a Hannibal Barca situation. Quote

Well good luck, cuz you'll need it. Hasn't the Shogun proclaimed anything against the Otome, though? Or they are not big enough yet for the event to trigger? Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Nope, i'm still not big yet, i do have some of the best armies availlable (the warrior monks are really OP, and when you have cheap katana units, the game is soo much easier) But yeh, it's kind of hard to wage a war when your territory is fragmented, and when the biggest threat is at your gates. Lucius Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 So I finally got myself some spare time to play Persona 3 FES on an emulator, and it's working fine actually. I can't remember why the game put me off the last time I played it years ago, also on an emulator, but I don't think it has to do with emulation errors. Having arrived at Tartarus and experiencing my first 'Tired' status/ailment, I think it's definitely this annoying part of the gameplay the put me off, or maybe it's the surprisingly difficult first boss on the 5th level of the dungeon (you'd probably have your ass handed to you if you don't follow a guide). Persona 4 is like a casual version of Persona 3, and that's saying a lot because Persona 3, people claimed, is a casual version of the main Shin Megami Tensei games that aren't Persona (in other words, HARDCORE GAMERS ™). But really, the social link system and the social interactions weren't as bad as I remembered for some reason, and even Tartarus just takes a bit of getting used to, especially when they provide you with teleportation portals to the entrance and heal all your HP/SP. So all in all, not a bad start. I'm liking the edgier atmosphere (could practically hear Linkin Park playing "Crawling" in the background) with the main characters shooting themselves in a suicidal outburst. I mean, the opening cutscene provides everything you need to know; a girl struggling to pull the trigger on her head. 'Nuff said. But seriously, jokes aside, I'm looking forward to how much darker the story will be since Persona 4, I have to unfortunately admit, was a bit too saccharine for my taste. This kind of switch-up is actually quite welcoming. Quote

Kurisu-Chan Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 But yeh, the story is kinda gloomy, kinda dark, very serious business, the characters here aren't here for fun, they have serious business. Quote

Which makes Persona Q so hilarious and fun in hindsight (mixing well with Persona 4's light-hearted nature), tempting me to buy that 3DS. Quote

If I remember correctly, P3P makes it so it is impossible to get Tired in Tartarus, so they knew it was shit. Just finished the PSP version of Final Fantasy Type-0. I've mentioned the weird balancing issues and grinding requirements here before, so it probably should come as no surprise that I cheated ~b-because it'S on an emulator, o-obviously!~ To be fair all I did was temporarily increase the XP gain to significantly cut down on the ridiculous grind time and got everyone to around level 40 - then played legit again. And it was a damn good thing I did - turns out that the last mission is just around that level - and that they actually expect you to level most of your character to that level too, instead of the usual 3 for regular missions. The ending itself - it was great, actually. There were some unexpected plottwists, and it delivered on that edgy grimdark feeling of the excellent intro. I just didn't quite understand everything that has happened (it does some very crazy things) - but after finishing watching the credits I was informed that something called the "Chapter of Truth" has been unlocked, so.... I suppose its NG+ time. I can also probably do that crazy high level content now - though I am still confused by its appearance on your first runthrough - there even was a quest that was level 79.... just.... how much time do you have to have to do the grind legit, haha. Kurisu-Chan Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I've decided to put on a hiatus my Ikko-ikki campaign in shogun 2 total war, this time, i'm taking another role. As Hannibal Barca, the Bane of the Romans, feared by Roma, by Carthage, even by Hannibal himself, i will lead the spears and the mercenaries of Carthage to the victory and to the ultimate freedum! Lucius Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Well, I finally did it. I finally beat Persona 4 Golden, true end and Margaret and all. Okay, not really. But I'm definitely on the path. Just beat the final 'story boss', and gonna spend my Christmas Eve with Ayane the Trombone-Girl from the music club. Aside from cheating on Naoto with Chie on my last playthrough, I've yet to really go the harem route by dating everybody, being loyal to my one waif- Okay I can't do this. I sound like a f***ing retarded weeaboo. But jokes aside, I only have a few non-party social links left to complete. It's almost impossible to complete all social links by the time the final story boss comes around, I think, which is kinda disappointing because I wanted to make it a grand finale where I max out all those special bonds with those fictional anime friends, herp derp durrr. But in all seriousness, it's been quite a hectic couple of weeks on this NG+, spending time leveling up, completing the compendium, boosting my party's stats by watching movies with them (again, an improbable task when you have to balance spending time on social links), and crying another bucket at that particular scene all over again. Hopefully this time, I won't make the same mistake again this time with that particular option involving Marie. I'm looking forward to finally enjoy the story conclusion I've worked so hard to experience, finishing the Persona 4 golden and non-golden anime, and just really send the Persona franchise off with the goodbye it deserves. At least until Persona 3 comes along after that. Quote

Kurisu-Chan Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 so. Playing with the Ikko was a good experience, i certainly took some lessons with it. First of all, when it comes to battles, i'm undefeated, basically no one can stop me, even if they come with a full samurai army, the warrior monks are deadly as fuck...my problems are in the gestion, i clearely had a very shitty expanding plan, losing my capital, letting the Otomo taking over half of japan, and not being able to unite my whole territory, led me to bankrupt after bankrupt, at that moment i knew, it was too late. All these lessons are being used now with the Chosokabe Rintarou, this time, with great kyu units (i'm hyped with the Daikyu) and a much, much better expansion plan, especially since the shikoku, if you have some boats, is impossible to attack. Lucius Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Ahhhh, I feel so empty now. You know that feeling when you finish one of those 'feel-good' slice-of-life anime? I saw a few of these threads hanging around MyAnimeList's forums, how people would feel 'empty', or to be more accurate, a sense of melancholy now that all the good wholesome fun of the anime is over. Sigh. I miss Persona already. So anyway, I've finally achieved the Golden Ending of Persona 4 Golden... and I have to say, it's kinda a mixed bag. Spoiler On one hand, it is a nice ending where everyone gets together with their precious friends again. On the other hand, I felt like it's a bit unrealistic in the Disney traditional fashion. Now, I'm not talking about the part where they meet up again for summer vacation - that part is fine and realistic - I'm talking about how Marie just returns to Earth without any explanation whatsoever, in the cheesiest Deus Ex Machina manner. Hell, it's not even a DEM - there's absolutely nothing explained about how she returns to being a human again. Anyway, that ending didn't really bug me much at first. But then, after completing the game while completing the anime at the same time, I saw the "Another End" extra OVA (AKA "Accomplice End"), which I totally should have watched before the last episode of the main series, because watching that extra OVA shortly after seeing the True End just let a bad taste in my mouth. That being said, I think it did open my eyes a little bit about the saccharine "True End" we got. Let's think about this... Spoiler Remember how Ameno-sagiri and Izanami said that the TV world is just a product of human desires? And remember how Yu had those delusions in the anime about spending time with his friends forever and ever? Well, what if the so-called "True End" was another delusion? Another naive desire to have some Disneyfied happy ending? What if the "Accomplice Ending" is the true end? Scary thought. Yet it would have made the story so much better IMO, deconstructing the usual "friendship is power" trope in anime, among other saccharine tropes of naivety. Anyway, time waits for no one. I wonder what's installed for me ahead... P.S.: Dat animation quality is sick. Makes P4: The Animation look third-rate. Quote
SilverLi Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Bought Oriental Empire and I am enjoying it. Simple turn based strategy with some depth of ancient China. It was a long time since I played a game like this. Quote
