Pimem88 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 I just finished it and I really liked the anti-hero setting and overall atmosphere. I have tried searching through vndb myself but haven't really found anything similar so I'm hoping someone here does! The closest I found is probably the Grisaia series where the mc is also strong and skilled. (which I already read and enjoyed very much!) Quote
NowItsAngeTime Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 You could try Meteor World Actor for a strong and skilled MC (though he tends to be too lazy to do it a lot of time but it's part of his character) Pimem88 1 Quote
Clephas Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Tokyo Necro, Muramasa, Gekkou no Carnevale, Phantom of Inferno and Jingai Makyou by the same company come to mind, obviously. Other than that... LAsuka Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 (edited) If you're talking about skilled protagonists, the ones I can think off the top of my head are  Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (MC is a 'Special High Class Individual) and its sequel, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo G-senjou no Maou (The MC is the brain of a Yakuza Empire) 9-nine series (MC is not an anti-hero, but is highly capable, especially in the final episode) Muv-Luv (Extra, Unlimited and Alternative) - MC starts off whiny, weak and insubstantial, but transforms into one of the best protagonists probably of all time Ayakashibito (MC is an escapee from an internment camp) Sorcery Jokers (The MC with white hair is a true badass)  There's probably a bunch more, so I'll update this if I remember.   Edited April 13, 2021 by LAsuka Pimem88 1 Quote
Pimem88 Posted April 13, 2021 Author Posted April 13, 2021 Thanks for the big list, there are a lot of titles that pique my interest Quote
Bsasds Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Hanachirasu, maybe? It's also by Nitroplus, has an English translation, a tenebrous and gritty aesthetic, has an "anti-hero" MC (though notably more sadistic than Kikokugai's MC), and he is very competent in combat to boot. I will admit that I personally preferred Kikokugai, but it's a worthwhile read. Quote
