Mattia Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I´ve played through Taiga´s normal route and Ami´s normal route just fine, but In Ami´s true route at certain point the screen becomes black, but the text box doesen´t disappear, the music keeps playing and both the skip and autoplay work, though the emulator seems to be unable to load the next scene: In the courage test route, the day you go to luxure you have a conversation with Taiga about the courage test you´re going to go through the next day, and right after she goes away and Ryuuji says "(For now I´ll go home and figure what to do with these leftovers...."), the backgroung fades away and then the screen stays black. How could I fix it? I´m using PPSSPP BTW: I don´t think this is the right place to complain about this but I haven´t found any page talking about problems in Toradora; Also thanks a lot for the Guide, I don´t think I would´ve been able to play the game whitout it! Nosebleed Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 You're right this is not something you should be asking here, this is a walkthrough thread only. You should post this the Technical Issues forum instead, maybe a mod can move it there later. However i can say that i ran into that same issue sometimes. It's a problem with the emulator most likely. Try not to abuse the skip function and maybe change one of the choices that doesn't affect the ending, see if the dialog changes or something in order to bypass it. I don't have any direct fix for it. Also try NOT using the emulator's save function. I've encountered a LOT more bugs by using the emulator save function than by using the normal save function within the game itself (to the point where i was unable to save within the game and had to replay from scratch because of it). I just use the game regularly without using the emulator's saves. Never encountered bugs after that Quote
Mattia Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Well, thanks for the really quick answer. I started a new game, this time saving whithin the game ( I actually had no Idea you could save whithin the game using an emulator ) and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the quick reply again and sorry for posting in the wrong section. Quote
daniel Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I'm not sure if a new thread should be started, but I am having an issue with the game as well. If any of you are familiar with PPSSPP, maybe you can help. The problem is that during the conversation minigame, the music, sound, and voice is jittery, like it is being paused and unpaused extremely quickly. It's playable, but very annoying and I can't appreciate the voice acting because it is so drawn out. Quote

The problem is that during the conversation minigame, the music, sound, and voice is jittery, like it is being paused and unpaused extremely quickly. It's playable, but very annoying and I can't appreciate the voice acting because it is so drawn out. No current fix for this. It happened to me too. The problem is those moments use more resources than the emulator can handle, or at least that's the conclusion i reached. For an example, when it was laggy my computer was working fine. Sometimes when it was not laggy (which is completely random) my computer's fan went haywhire, that's how much resources it's trying to use I tried tweaking the settings but nothing really fixed it aside from disabling resources (including the sound) which sometimes speeds up the framerate. Sometimes it works with no problems, other times it's extremly laggy. I recommend playing those scenes with the window size set to 1x and texture scaling off. Turning the sound off also might help. It's really random. Quote
REtransInternational Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 PSP emulation is not perfect yet, and requires much CPU power, you may want to close all other running programs if you want best experience. Also look at the minimum and recommended system requirements. Quote
Nosebleed Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Edit: I already asked Kendjin to make a FAQ and he agreed to it. Just leaving this post here for reference. If I may make a suggestion someone should make a Toradora FAQ because i get frequently asked the same 2 questions all the time "The game freezes every time at a certain scene transition, it's all black with the text box there but it never goes forward" which from personal experience is often caused by using the emulator's quick save functions and other functions while you're playing. One reason i formulated was because these quick saves mess with the start up data (i got a start up data error after abusing this feature) and cause the game to freeze so i just fully recommend never using the emulator's saves. Period. "There's lag issues during conversations" which is as you explained, consumes too many resources and the emulator simply is not optimized for it. "Unable to load missing system startup data error" This one has not been asked to me yet but it has happened to me so I might as well post it for the sake of people not having to replay the entire game from scratch like it happened to me. This happens when you make a quick save with your emulator and then save within the game after that point. If you quick load and try to save in the game after it wil cause errors and can even corrupt your save files so don't do it. If you've saved in the game before, restart the emulator and load the game from that point and don't use the quick saves after, there's no way to bypass this error once it occurs. For the sake of it don't try to run Toradora Portable while doing too many things on your computer at once. It'd help to have these in a FAQ or on the troubleshooting section of the main page so people know it is common. Quote
daniel Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Thanks, Nosebleed, for answering my question even when it's something that comes up. I couldn't find it anywhere, so an FAQ sounds like a good idea. Quote
