Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinzengumi 3DS

I just visited the E-Shop on the 3DS and saw that they have released a Otome Visual novel Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinzengumi on the E-shop for 16,99 euros (50% discount untill March 6th)

 

For anyone who has already read this Visual Novel: How is the story like? Is it interesting? I have never read a Otome Visual Novel before and I'm doubting whether I should buy it or not. The given age rating is 16+ but is it suitable to read in a public place, e.g. in a train as I'm not sure what to expect?

I liked reading Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward on my train trips, so having a new Visual Novel to read would be great.
