DarkWanderer Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Hi, I've played 2 visual novels so far and i loved them: Devil on G String and Katawa Shoujo. Could you recommend me somethink similar (2-3 titles would be great)? I'd like it to have good plot, to have erotic content (but not some weird stuff ^.-), do not have any "gameplay" - just simple text + some choices to make, and to be "obviously" in english. I am aware that there are some lists like top 50 but they say that its not in order and im interested only in best of the best xP so I'd really appreciate if you'd let me know what you recommend. Thanks in advance ;-) Quote
Nosebleed Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Saya no Uta Hoshizora no Memoria Little Busters (though no H content, still worth it) If My Heart Had Wings Quote
Undying Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 muv-luv alternative maybe, but you would have to play muvluv unlimited to get a grasp of the story. Sharin no kuni would be a good option also. Quote
krill Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 sharin no kuni and its fan disk tsukihime is great for a beginner because its good use of branching storyline kannon the arts a bit dated but the story more than makes up for that also the characters are fantastic uguu~~~ Quote
Izuru Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 G Senjou Maou Hoshizora No Memoria Little Busters Grisaia No Kajitsu :3 Quote

SieghartXx Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I'll go with the usual~! Little Busters! Hoshizora no Memoria. Grisaia no Kajitsu. Quote
Flutterz Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Clannad, Steins;Gate, Little Busters, and Ever17 are my 4 favourite VNs. By sheer coincidence non of them are 18+, but hopefully that won't stop you from playing these great VNs. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Sharin no Kuni and its fandisk Grisaia no Kajitsu Tsukihime and/or Fate/Stay Night Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru Quote
FruitsPunchSamurai Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Hoshizora Saya no Uta (not for the weak hearted) Ever 17 Planetarian If my heart had wings Quote
Kafunanapa3 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Grisaia No Kajitsu. Muv Luv Alternative. Kara No Shoujo. Quote
DarkWanderer Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Thanks everyone for such quick and abundant replies ;-) This will do just fine^^ Quote
Albedo Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Muv Luv series (Muv Luv and Muv Luv Alternative,) just remember that you need to play the whole trilogy and not skip directly to Alternative, or you're gonna lose a lot of enjoyment. Quote
Beato Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 ^Don't listen to Zeno! Heaven's Feel is great and should absolutely not be skipped. And theres not that much weird stuff in it. If you're going to skip it you might as well skip F/SN entirerly since its not complete without it. You should definitely read Sharin no Kuni since it's by the same write as G-senjou and has many similarities, but also many opposites interestingly. Quote
O. Van Bruce Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 So many stuff without actually asking what he's looking for. The basic would be asking for this. So, what are you looking for on a VN OP? Quote

When you've only read 2 VNs you can pretty much pick something from the top of VNDB at random and get a good VN. Quote
O. Van Bruce Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 When you've only read 2 VNs you can pretty much pick something from the top of VNDB at random and get a good VN. Unless you really like reading for the sake of it I'd never recomend a huge VN like Clannad or any nakige. Fate Stay\Night can be very annoying. That's why it is essential to ask: What do you find enjoyable on VNs? Do you want something relaxing or stimulating? Do you consider H scenes as something positive, neutral or negative on VNs? Do you enjoy drama? Quote
Flutterz Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Unless you really like reading for the sake of it I'd never recomend a huge VN like Clannad or any nakige. Fate Stay\Night can be very annoying. That's why it is essential to ask: What do you find enjoyable on VNs? Do you want something relaxing or stimulating? Do you consider H scenes as something positive, neutral or negative on VNs? Do you enjoy drama? I doubt that someone who has no interest at all in reading would ever get into VNs in the first place. The extent of that interest differs, obviously, but I can't imagine someone without it liking pretty much any VN. I do agree that knowing all those thing will help you give better recommendations, but if someone hasn't read many VNs they might not even be sure what they enjoy in a VN yet. In that case even giving them something really different to what they've already read and enjoyed might be end up showing them their next favourite VN. Quote
Beato Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 As I said Sharin is probably the best bet for you if you enjoyed G-Senjou. Quote
