What's a good Key VN to read?

I have just finished the Shin Koihime series and was very satisfied with the story, but now I find myself in need of a good VN. Apparently, Key's works are all good but are there any specifically good ones out there? Would appreciate any suggestions!

I liked them all but I'd say Rewrite and Little Busters are the best ones. Rewrite has a mix of mystery, school life, and a little action while Little Busters is mostly slice of life, school life type stuff with some mystery mixed in.

I'll basically reiterate what I just posted in another thread (hi, Zeno!), if you want a long VN with a ton of routes, there's Clannad. If you want a long VN but maybe not a hundred gazillion routes, there's Little Busters. If you want a long VN that isn't entirely high-school slice-of-life, there's Rewrite. If you want a medium-sized VN in a wintry setting there's Kanon. If you want a medium-sized VN in a more supernatural setting, there's Air. If you want a short VN there's Planetarian. In fact, even if you don't want a short VN, read it anyways.

Hmm, the spoilers ( they aren't really) give out a very brief yet interesting view on the VNs. I would like to try them all out, starting with Little Busters. Thanks for the suggestions!

IMO Rewrite is currently Key's masterpiece, with Little Busters! not that far behind.

 

However Angel Beats! is going to be their most ambitious VN by far, with 19 routes, amazing art, massive content to explore with a very lengthy completion time and sexyass H-Scenes as a bonus. It's going to... excuse my language, poop all over the Angel Beats! anime.

I'd say Little Busters for me personally, it all depends on your tastes though. Almost anything from them is a good starting point in their games.

To summarize the above, Little Busters is the best and worst VN of the bunch, but it also falls somewhere in the middle.  Despite that, Rewrite is the top pick of Key's works, except possibly for when you're playing CLANNAD.  Additionally, Angle Beats will definitely probably blow the rest of them away when it comes out, so be sure you play Planetarian.  Also, Kanon is pretty good.

I'm a little confused as to what that statement means. Is it because there are some parts are really and others that are really bad? Or is it players' opinions?

It depends on what you like. Rewrite is a completely different VN from the rest of Key's output though so there's no guarantee you'll like other Key VNs if you like Rewrite or that you'll like Rewrite if you like other Key VNs.

Already on Rewrite, and just finished Chihaya's route. I must say it is different from my earlier VNs but still a good story nonetheless.

So you've decided to go for Rewrite, eh? I really liked it, but just keep in mind that everything else Key makes is very different from it.

Oh, and it's a bit late to tell you this but it's best to start with Kotori's route.

I thought so when I belatedly looked at the walkthrough and it said "Shizuru route will open after clearing Kotori route" T.T My favourite character in Rewrite except from Lucia. After all, what's not to like about a smallish kouhai with an eyepatch?

Little Busters, definitely. I played all the heroine routes in Rewrite, but dropped at the Moon Route because I couldn't stand the game anymore. Thus, I hated Rewrite, except for Lucia's route.

don't know about other game of key.

Play Planetarian first, it's really short but very good. You can get through it in a couple of hours.

After that I'd have to recommend Kanon for wintertime and Air for summertime
