huntj09 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Hi Everyone! I just thought I'd let you know that I just started a Kickstarter campaign. I thought this was the most appropriate place to share it. Hopefully it lives up to the community's expectations. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/211610632/snow-petals-and-scarlet-an-interactive-story ~Florana Quote
Nosebleed Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I really like the goal you've made to not recycle the art (at least as much as possible). Although I'm not a huge fan of Otome I wish you good luck on the kickstarter, the overview was definitely interesting and really made me want to try it out despite being a guy and not a big fan of Otome. Your stretch goals are also really appealing, particularly the voice acting. I hope you get the funding you're seeking (and hopefully more). huntj09 1 Quote
Darklord Rooke Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Have you made a thread on the lemma-soft board about this VN? It's a community of visual novel creators. There's a forum called 'work in progress' where you let people know information concerning upcoming visual novels. The art looks very pretty, but I'm usually more concerned with the writing. I can't find any examples of the writing in the game, and that makes me a little sad. There's plenty of pretty visual novels being made, but very few with good writing. Good luck. huntj09 1 Quote
huntj09 Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Thanks nosebleed! That makes me really happy to know that it DOES seem appealing, that was my main concern. I know the stretch goal is quite a jump for voice acting, but I'm planning to do this properly hence it's such a high goal. I've noticed a trend with VNs that the same 3 emotions are consistently recycled and it makes me eventually stop playing the game. I'm determined to re-write the rule so that VNs become more enjoyable Your feedback is very much appreciated! Rooke: I'm not entirely sure how I could give an example without giving the story away. It pretty much reads like a book, that's all I can say. I did a major in English in my Arts degree so that's all I can really give you. Is there a way I can give an example without spoiling too much of it? Quote

I like to take a glimpse of the writing style before making any judgement calls Something like this http://www.winterwolves.com/nicole.htm Also, and this will probably cause much irritation, lemma-soft has gone and implemented an anal crowd-sourcing rule. I don't know why ( http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=25795 ). You'll have to repost the information about your game in the thread without linking to the kickstarter, unless you have a playable demo operating. It's probably been introduced just to tick people off. It's worth it for the advertising you'll generate, though. On the other hand, massive pain in the ass. Quote

I've edited my post according to their rules now. I might add some dialogue later today, almost like a transcript and see how we go. I'll update here later when it's done. Quote
Flutterz Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Art looks nice enough and a long-spanning story sounds interesting, otome's not my thing though. Good luck! Quote
huntj09 Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 I've added in some dialogue, just under the character info if you want to see some of the tense political situations you must face. It doesn't give away too much of the story either. Quote
Sakimichi Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Have you promoted your work at English Otome Games @ tumblr? if not do so, i bet more fans are willing to support you Quote

Sakimichi Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Which tumblr account is it? Do you have the link? www.englishotomegames.net/ Also, when you promote your stuff you need a tumblr or a blog or a website to communicate with the fans Clean up your presentation a bit more, something like how this team has presented it. Hang-out with OELVN communities (original english visual novel) on reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/ http://www.reddit.com/r/vndevs Quote

Hang-out with OELVN communities (original english visual novel) on reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/ http://www.reddit.com/r/vndevs Thanks for that Sakimichi! I've played VNs for absolute years now but I've never really known about the communities out there. You've all been an absolute great help! If the project doesn't get off the ground, I'll definitely be resubmitting it, making sure to include absolutely everything that has been suggested. Quote
krill Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 i could see this being the first otome game i play, i hope it meets its goal and gets released more games in the market the better. Quote
DimDito Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I love the fact that you're trying to make it as interactive as possible. Sounds really ambitious! Still too young to have a credit account, but you have my full support at heart! I don't play Otomes so I'll suggest it to my female friends. Wish you good luck. Quote
huntj09 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks guys for your support! Edit: I've actually cancelled the kickstarter now, as it has no demo and was not going to be successful. I'm focusing on my other project which HAS a demo, and is not an otome. I'll create a separate topic for it but here's the kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/211610632/hurricane-paisley-the-visual-novel Quote
