Romcom harems in general aren't known for having the most brilliant plots, you should not watch/read any and expect them to have a deep storyline, you'll only feel disappointment.

Nisekoi manages to be slightly fun sometimes, but it's not any more brilliant then many previous romcoms.

Love Hina wasn't any masterpiece, some people praise it as a classic but aside from that its characteristics are virtually the same as most romcoms nowadays and it doesn't offer anything that refreshing.

As far as meaningful content I'd say it's on the same level as Nisekoi.

Regardless, the point is that romcoms aren't known, nor were they ever trying to be known, for having deep and well crafted plotlines, they're comedy/gags coupled with a romantic subplot most of the time and where they usually shine most is in the comedy side (since that's what keeps the reader entertained more often than not). The rest is just a matter of moving the romantic plot along with the comedy which is when some series fail and others nail it.

Most great comedy anime tend to be parodies anyway (see TWGOK and Carnival Phantasm for some brilliant examples). Well, I can't really complain considering we had two other really awesome romcoms this year (Bokura Wa Minna Kawaisou and Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun) as well.

Oh come on man not that... They totally butchered the manga (which is good) with that show  <_<

Personally I'd say my favourite romcoms are Toradora! and Sakurasou No Pet Na Kanojo (both have a good amount of drama and meaningful character development as well to back up the superb comedy which is why I love them so)

PS: I waste so much time on stupid romance anime, you have no idea

I know the feel, when I started watching anime I didn't want anything but romance

Then I understood everything was so generic, around romance anime number 152 or so :P

So now I tone it down to one or two at most a month.

Nisekoi is the only on-going romance series i'm reading too.

Good... now I can move on with the next 100 or so until i get tired of it... Thats a big relieve :D

At the moment i totally enjoy mostly romance, good comedy and cute girls :P -> so Nisekoi is perfect...

I honestly could not stand this show the plot seemed way to wishy washy for me

Excuse me while I laugh hysterically for a moment. Hahahahahahahahaha... that felt good. Plot~

Ill still take this over any new rom com any day

While I did enjoy most of the show (Naru constantly being violent was annoying) the manga was a lot better. Not to mention I'm a big fan of the mangaka.

I loved every single series you just mentioned. Kawaisou was hilarious and cute while Nozaki-kun was just downright hysterical at times. Toradora is my favorite romcom and Sakurasou definitely ranks up there as well. I would like to add Clannad to that list as well though. It's a personal favorite.

Back on topic, does anyone know when season 2 airs?
