First things first:

Are you running your computer with Japan system locale? (link to instructions): Yes
Game NameMuv Luv
Description of Problem: Can't get Setup.exe to run, let alone install.
Your Operating System: Windows 7
64 or 32 bit (link to how to find): 64
What did you already try? DLed from more than one source (including Fuwa) and have had the same problem each time.
Did you download your game from Fuwanovel?: Yes

Let me begin by saying that while I've read a few VNs, I'm still new to the whole mounting onto a virtual drive thing, so I may just be making a silly mistake.  I've tried following Tay's Muv Luv guide and checked the Muv Luv FAQ and haven't found my problem in either spot.

I'm able to mount the CCD file (I'm using WinCDEmu instead of Daemon Tools, would that matter?), Windows prompts me to run the Setup, but when I click on it instead of getting the Setup window I get this error message:

Not sure what to do next to fix this, any help would be appreciated!

ah yes, its cause its a 16bit installer.

I know Muv-Luv Alternative, you needed to use mla-r2.exe instead of setup.exe to install.

Just checked

Muv-Luv: ml-r7.exe to install (not autorun.exe or setup.exe)

Hmm, my files are from here on Fuwa but I'm not seeing an ml-r7.exe.  I do see something titled "Run this Installer."  When I clicked this it opened the install wizard and prompted me to insert Disc 1.  After I mounted it and continued I got this message:

I clicked OK, it continued, asked for Disc 2, I mounted that and continued, got the same message as above, continued, and the installation finished.  Now when I click the shortcut it created for me I get this error message:

Ok, so I mounted MUVLUV_EXTRA.ccd - in Daemon tools

This allowed me to install the game, then run the patch.

Game runs fine.

You MUST have Non-unicode set to Japanese to do this.

Non-unicode is definitely set to Japanese.  Don't know why this would be a problem, but could it be because I'm using WinCDEmu instead of DT?  I thought it might be redundant to have 2 different virtual drive programs so I didn't install DT, do you think that might make a difference?

Well, I uninstalled my old program and used DTLite and now it seems to be up and running just fine, guess I learned my lesson about assuming one program will work the same as another.  Thanks so much for helping me out, really appreciate it.
