Nosebleed Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I'm not sure if I should be surprised or not but there isn't a thread about this anywhere on fuwa (at least not when I searched) so I thought why not make one. Most people probably don't know this but I really like Vocaloid/Utau music and listen to it rather frequently. I was wondering who else here on fuwa has a similar interest? I hope I'm not the only Vocaloid/Utau fan out here.. Regardless, this thread is for discussing both the music and the characters (Vocaloids and Utauloids) Feel free to answer questions such as Do you listen to Vocaloid/Utau music? What do you like/dislike? What's your favorite Vocaloid/Utauloid? And of course share your Vocaloid/Utau music! You can also share fan art although I'd prefer if you said something alongside it instead of just posting pictures, I don't want this to be a spam thread. For those of you who don't know what one of them (or neither of them) are, there's always time to learn: Vocaloid (Wikipedia) Utau (Wikipedia) You can post one video per post, any other video in the same post has to be in a spoiler to avoid this thread becoming a lag fest for people with low bandwidth. Well I'll start this thread with one of my favorite Utauloids, Namine Ritsu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4ZSldD2hcg I never get tired of listening to his songs, for a guy in drag, he's pretty impressive. He also has missiles for breasts which makes him better than your average being. Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Well I know about Vocaloids, didn't know about Utau though. For me, artists using Vocaloid are just providing tons of songs to be mapped on osu . Otherwise I like this one from Miku : Online game addicts And I used to like "The world is mine" but i got tired of it ._. But yeah ... osu! maps mainly . I think these kind of songs fit the rythm game genre pretty well. Quote

Although I do agree IA <3 Best thing to come out of Vocaloid 3 alongside Aoki Lapis Just because they're good osu beatmaps doesn't mean they're bad songs I also discover a ton of vocaloid songs through osu as well as beatmaps through vocaloid songs so it's even~ ryouuuuu 1 Quote
Blackex Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Well i am a huge Vocaloid fan and for Utau never listened it, but i have to admit i like the song you posted. My favorite song series is The Evillious Chronicles by Mothy. Favorite song is Capriccio Farce. As for the characters my favorite are Miku, Gumi and IA. I am the only one in my town who likes to listen to music like this so its nice to find some soulmates. Quote
Nosebleed Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 It's okay I didn't discover Utau existed until a friend showed me, before that I thought every voice synthetizer was called Vocaloid. I listen to a reasonable amount of both so I separate the two. Utau has a ton of voicebanks, like an absurd amount but I'd say only very few are popular. Ritsu is a popular one. Kasane Teto is also a popular Utauloid. But the list is endless My favorite vocaloid is IA by the way. I forgot to mention that. Before Vocaloid 3 was out though my obsession was Kagamine Rin and Len. All dat fan art The Vocaloid I most dislike is Hatsune Miku. Maybe it's because she's grown to be so mainstream or something, but honestly I just grew tired of her. Her maps on osu are cool though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ui4TXA9oFmg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ynpSskI6gE One of my favorite osu beatmaps too^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9_QQIWNovc Quote
Shaward Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 From my abyssal ignorance about it ( i don't listen that much to it and i don't know vocalods that much ) i found this song that obsessed me for a while *-* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG0UYx6F3r0 Quote
Yukiru Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I just got into them last week (8 days ago, probably) so I haven't listened to most of vocaloids/utaus, I have my increasing obsession with Rin though (I fear for my money). Favorite song is Meltdown, I've probably listened to it over 100 times this week... but this one is just too adorable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebAKoRcYFTA&list=RDebAKoRcYFTA Also, Miku got my attention after I listened to hajimete no oto, but I started to like her after this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHgK9QcdTFA Quote
MarZ0rak Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Gumi is probably my favourite with Aoki Lapis close behind. I haven't heard of Utau before, I'll have to check it out some time. Quote

Nosebleed Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 Love the songs you posted Here is one of Miku is kinda Techno Dubstep not sure it sounds all the same to me See I love the song, but I find Miku's voice annoying for it. This is how tired i've grown of her voice. But good song nonetheless. Since most of you don't seem to know Utau i'll post some more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R3MpBCfS6M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVE6bZa-Ft0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP1uQNueWXA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB9L2NFBXs4 Pacmanisover9000 1 Quote

Spark Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 What do you know, one of these threads again. I do like my fair share of Namine Ritsu, since he has terrific range! (as in, he sounds fantastically clean in just about every register.) The timbre of his voice varies depending on the octave, too, successfully emulating both the whole effeminate and adolescent-masculine thing simultaneously. There's an unmistakenable sense of ambiguity, granting the listener a sense of unity and disregard for the gender barrier, despite the already existing predisposition of said boy that, infact, weighs several tons and can fire ballistics from his breasts. I tend to dislike any Vocaloid song with poor emulation, e.g. Miku's cover of Go Go Maniac, etc. While Namine Ritsu has a naturally convincing voice bank, Miku, as well as many other 'loids, does not. And, with that said, my favorite vocaloid is Miku. I hope that doesn't surprise you. Here's my favorite tune. If you scroll down the comments and click "show more", the comment by "Jordansoldat" is mine. "My favorite from Mitchie M in so many ways! Melodies utilizing catchy rhythms in their proper place while maintaining harmony to ward chaos completely. I love the individual sounds used in complete deliberation-- if not only to be used just once. There's so many shenanigans going on if you sit down and really listen. You know he's done it perfect if it all blends together into something so pleasant! Mitchie really out did himself with this one. It's a guilty pleasure, too... I can listen to this so many friggen times consecutively." Obvious lolicon implications aside, Mitchie M is a genius of an artist. He seems to mix and master his own music, as well as create what I find are some of the best patches for the genres he's involved in. As a music major, I can confirm that, through some study, Mitchie M has a formal musical background and seems classically trained, as a lot of his tunes are musically intelligent. His sense of harmony is fairly strong and he manipulates his melodies well. He's great with music technology, despite his open humility, and often puts Miku with a chorus, which is, in my opinion, where she sounds her best. Honestly, it doesn't take much to satisfy my taste. I can watch terrible anime and listen to simple music, as I'm extremely tolerant and open to many genres, but I have a great appreciation for work like this. Pointing out my obvious bias is acceptable, as there is no passion without it. It doesn't feel right without pointing a fault of his, and that's when he "attempts" to manipulate her voice to accompany "solo" sections, as you'll likely immediately notice right off at the beginning of "Bye Bye Blue Memory." Tut tut. Anyway, thanks for reading. Thanks to my mostly westernized and "normal" community, it's hard to find opportunities to splurge like this. If you read this, you have my gratitude. Quote

Nosebleed Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 Ahh the Kagerou Project <3 I need to listen to all the songs in a row now. I like the more upbeat songs from it though. In the end they all died so these feels were kind of meaningless. But still good. Quote

Well, me too, I never really took to any of the other Vocaloids the way I did to Miku. I have a Nendoroid of her with the 2 negi, the Figma poseable version (also with 2 negi), and a darn nice coffee mug. And the Project Diva games with the specialized controller, and the galgames where Miku falls in love with you Quote
