Zodai Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Additionally, I thought that the previous Red dealt with this one, but sense it's still here I'm going to hit it for good measure~ Arnold is the culprit, who hacked the account. Quote
Kendjin Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Interesting... I'll look into this. For now, I'll organise the events and such. 16 APRIL 15:00 - Arnold enters Computer Laboratory. The computers run on a closed network. Memory devices mustn't be more than 8MB. - Nanase arrives home, and plays League at some point. Nanase and her father are indistinguishable in League. Nanase did not knowingly have a role in the hacking. 16:00 - Katarina is at a vegetarian campaign. The campaign has nothing to do with the crime. 16:30 - RoTaRy finishes commission. Too tired to do any complex programming. He most likely took a nap. 17:00 - Adam was working. Co-worker messing with laptop over the internet. Laptop is not logged on with Adam's e-mail. - Adam's account was compromised. Hacker was unable to change e-mail password. Couldn't they just use the old 'Forgotten Password' method? 17:30 - Katarina returns from campaign. Her knowledge outside League is limited. That only means Katarina can mess around in League. 17:45 - Farken (at this point, it is unknown who played) plays with the compromised account. The twin who played is irrelevant! - Compromised account plays with low latency (Likely from N. America) IP impossible to trace. - They were matched with the compromised account with a common friend. The Farken brothers' 'common friend' might be the hacker, or know the hacker. 18:00 - Arnold leaves Computer Laboratory. The game must have ended at this point. Arnold is the culprit, who hacked the account. No more than nine people are related to this crime. Anything in violet are merely my speculations and thoughts. Quote
Zodai Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Not getting involved yet, but I just wanted to post and say, damn that's a good looking post. Indeed, it is quite good~ Quote
Zodai Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 After the possibility of absurdly convoluted plot twists was brought up in another thread (I'm running these tests on more than one forum) I've decided to create an Advanced Tips list in order to push the game slightly more in the audience's favor. ADVANCED TIPS - These are not required for the enjoyment of the game, but provide information to swing the game in the audience's favor.--- (Note - this was added mid-game, and is currently being tested) Each character has a set of traits applied to them, depending on the complexity and length of the game. The Game Master's solutions, if they require any specific abilities, must fit within the traits those characters possess. These count for both positive and negative effects, and can be both vague and specific. They are also seperate from red truths - while red usually serves to limit, more traits usually means more options. *Example - You cannot state that a character gets to bypass rules because he's the son of the prime minister, without having that be a part of his traits. Basic traits, such as fundamental computer usage, are assumed to be owned by everyone unless otherwise stated (Such as in the character trait, or being set in 1973.) (The traits themselves are shown in bold) Adam Kesura - Was at work at the time his password was changed. What happened before then is entirely up for debate. Co-worker - The closest one to Adam physically. Note his location - what else could be in the truck? Nanase Kesura - She is a child. Expect aspects are commonly attributed to children. Mark and Timothy Farken - Twins tend to work well together. Expect cooperation and accomplices, not limited to just the twins themselves. The Common Friend. Has direct contant with Nanase and the twins. Additionally, can turn out to be any of the other characters on the board. Katarina Frey - Not good with computers, but has asked some questions about it on forums - As a result, she can communicate with a maximum of one additional character. (I'm probably rewriting her bio next time around > <) Arnold - High-class student, very high in the AsiRaci social hierarchy. Expect manipulative mindgames. Additionally, AsiRaci is an odd school - expect unorthodox rules. RoTaRy - He is a super genius. Expect exceptional programming ability and logical leaps of brilliance. Also, I'm adding it to the OP. Aniki Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Time to throw in a chain of events. 1. Arnold had entered the Computer Laboratory, and with the assistance of a fellow student, he was able to access the internet using a smuggled wireless connection. 2. Arnold had hacked the League account for practice, and had given the password to the fellow student. 3. The fellow student, previously, had asked RoTaRy for the physics engine. 4. RoTaRy, after finishing the physics engine, had given it to the commissioner, which was the fellow student. The statement 'The commissioner's identity is not relevant to the case' is not in red. 5. The fellow student had given the password to RoTaRy, and the password was later sent by RoTaRy to the co-worker, who had owed him something before (or merely shared the password). The co-worker had accessed Adam's account, and changed the password. Quote
zhurai Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 On April 16th, at 5:00 PM, Adam Kesura's League account was compromised. The hacker had changed his password (As Adam used the same password for both his email and League accounts) However, they were unable to change the password of the email itself. At the time, he was at work as an electrician in California, on top of a rather nasty telephone pole, while his co-worker sat in the truck below, fiddling with his laptop over the internet. This is why you don't use the same password for more than 1 place :3 Also to use 2 factor authentication for emails. and I don't really have time to play this game anyhow, but just noting /goes back to lurking Quote

If Arnold is able to gain access to the internet, he does not require the assistance of a fellow student to do it. 2 & 3 - See 4. 4. I'll admit, I was impressed. The commissioner is not relevant to the case. 5. Between the hours of 3 and 6 PM, excluding Adam, Nanase and Adam's wife, a maximum of two entities knew the password to Adam's account. Additionally, I thought I would expand on a Red Truth placed earlier, as it was slightly misleading in an unintentional way. If RoTaRy knows the password to Adam's account prior to 4:30, then it is not a complex task. Quote
Mephisto Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 1. Rotary had hacked in to League of Legends servers before hand, and extracted data relating to passwords and accounts. 2. Rotary published this data on the internet for the lolz 3. Adam's coworker happened to see the post relating to this security breach on the Internet, and thinking it'd be funny, finds his coworker's account and changes the password. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Nanase Kesura clicks on one of the links for "free riot points" which redirected to a landing platform for a trojan set by the Chinese (Arnold) at some time in the past. (She saw the link due to the loading screen for league of legends announcing the release of a new teemo skin, and she wanted to see what it was) 2. Landing on the site automatically installs a trojan on to your computer. When it detects a process of league open, a key logger activates. 3. Nanase Kesura logs on to league of legends at 3:00 P.M and begins playing. (She was at the loading screen, and received the trojan prior to inputting password in to the game) When she logs on, the key logger tracks the key strokes, and upon pressing enter takes a screenshot of the screen. This data is sent to the Chinese server. 4. An automated script set to run at 5:00 P.M goes through any new data in the last 24 hours, and if the data is valid, changes the password automatically. 5. Someone in America purchases the account, since their last one was just banned at a cheap price of 5$. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote

Mephisto Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 3:00 P.M Nanase Kesura logs on to league of legends. The "common friend" happens to be online as well, and sends a message to Nanase Kesura about a new kennen skin in a link through League of Legend's chat system. Nanase Kesura clicks on the link, and is prompted with a page that informs her that she must log in to proceed. Nanase inputs the log in information for her league of legends account, and reaches a page with details on Pikachu Kennen. Nanase is delighted and informs "common friend" that she is so. 4:30 P.M Rotary sends out the data acquired from his various phishing websites today to the respective "business partners" to process. 4:45 P.M While Adam is hard at work doing maintenance on telephone poles, his coworker (let us call him Tomoya) begins working on his side job. Thankfully, there doesn't seem to be that many on the list today. Although Tomoya is working as an associate to a hacking group, that doesn't mean he enjoys the work. He simply needs the money to get by in this day and age. 5:00 P.M Tomoya reaches Adam's account on the list, and proceeds to change the password. After changing the password, he heads to change the email, he suddenly realizes that this is the same email Adam uses. In shock, he stops what he is doing and stares at the screen for a few minutes. He never realized that he could be hurting people that he knew in person, and it had just been another job to him. Tomoya unfortunately has a rather poor memory, so when he went to change the password back to the original, he realized that he had already forgotten what the original password was. Fortunately, the password was still saved on the document he was referencing, and he quickly changes the password back to the original. At that moment, Adam came down from the telephone pole not knowing anything was up, and informed Tomoya that they should head to the next one, and that it would be Tomoya's turn. Tomoya quickly closes all the windows that were open, and nervously agrees. There's no way that Tomoya could admit that he had just been "hacking" his coworkers League of Legends account for a little bit of side money, and he let the fact that he at least changed the password back to what it should be soothe his guilty conscience. 5:45 The "hacker" who logs on at 5:45 is none other than Adam himself, who is simply logging on after a hard shift at work. While Tomoya works on the current telephone pole, Adam decided to start a game of league, and is invited by the "common friend", who had also invited the twins. Quote

His shock however, quickly replaced itself with a feeling of superiority, of power. He begins imagining the things he could do, the trolling he could perform. All in the name of someone else. At that moment, Adam came down from the telephone pole not knowing anything was up, and informed Tomoya that they should head to the next one, and that it would be Tomoya's turn. Tomoya quickly closes all the windows that were open, and nervously agrees. Tomoya couldn't just tell Adam that he was hacking his league of legends account. 5:45 P.M FINALLY. Tomoya's shift has ended, and it's back to Adam manning the telephone poles. With all the excitement of a four year old about to do something their mom explicitly told them not to do, he quickly logs on to League of Legends through the laptop, and sets out immediately to do a ranked queue when-- he is invited by "common friend". Tomoya stops and considers his options, and realizes that he may get even more glee out of trolling Adam's friends on Adam's account, while they don't know it's him. Thinking that the could finally pay Adam back for that time when he had a hammer dropped on his toe, Tomoya accepts the invite. Quote

Zodai Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 Update - I AM SLEEPY Q_Q Procrastinatory actions have resulted in me spending five hours writing one solution (I have three of these threads across various forums right now > <) As a result, the solution may be past the deadline. I'm also changing the deadline rules a little bit. -The solution may only be played if it has been more than three hours since the last red or blue truth was given. This way the audience can continue debating if they so desire, but you'd better stay up if you want to get it done :3 Quote

I ran out of energy and took a nap while writing it the first time > < After that the drive got a bit lost. I could post the entirely factual version if you desire - my author's tendencies make me want to write it in a short story format, and I generally find it more fun to write it in that style anyway. Also because this is the thread that's been the most interesting I wanted to save it for the last in case someone wanted to pull out a last-minute blue truth (Probably wasn't needed though > <) Note to self - Have the solutions written down in advance! Zodai Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Yeah, I took long to write the solution and I ended up losing interest > < Misuterii High's Umineko mode partially figures out what this is trying to deliver on, anyway. If you want the short version of the answer.. --The twins are the culprit. The common friend is Mark's college professor and Nanase's uncle, Kenneth Kesura. Mark came over to the uncle's house to play League. When Kenneth wasn't looking, Mark sent Nanase a webpage involving "Free RP" or "Free Skins" using Kenneth's account, since they know Nanase trusts her quite a lot. After that, Timothy got the password to the account at her house. The trio then played a bot match, so that Adam would believe Nanase was lying about not being able to log in. However, they forgot the password after changing it, and changed it back at 8PM - using Nanase's name as a clue, as Nana is Seven in Japanese. That's the general outline I had. This version may or may not conflict with some red truths, but it's just a general outline of what I had in mind. That said, Misuterii High has exemplified on what this put out to achieve far greater than this did. If you liked it, I'd check that out~ http://www.byond.com/games/MetaFrosty/MisuteriiHigh Quote
