Kanbe Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 This VN has caught my eye for quite sometime now and I'm wondering if it's worth buying it. I'm a fan of the Zero Escape series and this game seems to be kinda similar. grim_tales1 and Funyarinpa 2 Quote
Flutterz Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 http://vndb.org/v5000 It has a bunch of 9 ratings on VNDB so it's probably good, but it's only in Japanese. Also your avatar is amazing! Quote

I agree. That avatar really is amazing. Sorry for not posting on topic, but this is your only post, so I can only say that here. But yeah, I'd usually trust vndb ratings, for the most part. Unless you wanna hear feedback from people who've actually read it. Quote
fun2novel Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I have not yet finished it myself but I can say right now that it does not disappoint. It is from the same guy who did the Infinity series and I/O so if you played those you kind of should have an idea, although every one of his games is different. When you start Root Double you have a choice between two routes, Root A and Root B. Root A is really suspenseful, it constantly throws the characters into more and more dangerous situations. Root B is more of a mystery and has a focuses much more on the characters (so far from what I read.) It is a really interesting story that I don't want to spoil. I would recommend it but only if you liked the Infinity series and know their style. Quote
grim_tales1 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Root Double sounds really like the sort of thing I'd enjoy too. And yes the story on VNDB did sound like Zero Escape... Quote
Funyarinpa Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 ...but it's not translated yet! *grits teeth in frustration and need of Root Double, 12Riven, Exogenesis and Zero Escape 3* Quote
grim_tales1 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Yeah, looks like Root Double may be some time away - but at least we know it will be translated/made one day. Zero Escape 3 on the other hand... Quote
fun2novel Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 It will be worth it to wait for these games I guarantee you that. And yeah, I wold love to see ZE3 come out. I would like to see the 12Riven trilogy as well but alas it seems like it will never come true. Sad, so sad. Btw, you guys heard about Uchikoshi's new game? Quote
grim_tales1 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 12 Riven "Trilogy"? What do you mean by that? AFAIK 12 Riven is being translated, its probably that Killer Queen is being given priority. I'd like to see both of those and ZE3! Yeah, I've heard about Uchikoshi's new game - could be interesting.. though what a "sexual comedy" would be combined with Uchikoshi's insane twists is anyone's guess I hope it does well though. http://nextgennintendo.wordpress.com/2014/04/15/kotaro-uchikoshi-working-on-new-title/ Quote
fun2novel Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 12Riven is the first in the planned trilogy known as the Integral trilody. But 12Riven didn't sell well so they cancelled it completely and instead they released the crap that was Code_18 which was supposed to be the next game in the Infinity series. Poor Uchikoshi, he just can't finish any of his trilogies "sexual comedy" is that what he is working on right now? It's not really his style but who knows, lol. But I can't wait to see what's this vn is going to be. Quote
grim_tales1 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Oh no! Now I worry 12 Riven won't have a proper ending either I guess we'll see soon enough. Quote
fun2novel Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Actually no need to worry. While there are one or two mysteries left for the sequels, 12Riven is pretty complete. So you can relax, they aren't gonna pull a Remember11 on you, lol. Funyarinpa and grim_tales1 2 Quote
fun2novel Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Do you guys ever pay attention to the date and time stamps when they appear? Quote
grim_tales1 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I'm not sure what you mean, do you mean something used in game? I try to pay attention but cant say I've noticed any big patterns in things like R11 when you check video data Quote
fun2novel Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I mean when they change scenes they usually would show a date. Some games show the actual time too like I/O for example. There is usually so much going on in these stories that I can't even bother to remember time and date, lol. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I never look at them really, though Steins; Gate shows "new mail" notifications there(timestamps) so you gotta check it every now and then. Side note: I made it to Chapter 2 and Steins; Gate is very good so far! Quote
fun2novel Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Oh yeah S;G is very good. For me personally it's one of the best but not up there with the Infinity series. Quote
grim_tales1 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I don't really look at them much myself, only when the game kind of makes me pay attention to them (if that makes sense). Quote
Darkshine Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Hm, this story setting reminds me of something. Looks interesting. Quote
