I prefer to have a satisfying conclusion to the story. I don't mind if the VN has a true ending as long as the routes end on a good note but i'm not implying that true endings don't have their valor.

I think it depends entirely on the way the story is written, some VN's are better with a true route and some others are better because they don't have one.
