Nagisa_Fawkes Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 "CARTOON", anime are not cartoons so they don't count, so I guess "General Discussion" is the right place for this. I was taking a bath, and I ponder about many things when I do that (some do other stuff ), and I was recalling my childhood. I didn't have a computer at the time, so I spent almost all my time in front of the TV, watching cartoons. And I remembered my favorites: -Age 2-6: TELETUBBIES Dinkiwinky~, Dipsy~, Lala~, Po~. Ah so nostalgic... although I feel a bit embarrassed having loved that until I was 6 -Age 6-11: CYBERCHASE This one was pretty interesting. Three kids (one boy and two girls) were sucked into their computers (I think) and there they discovered a cyber world, commanded by Motherboard. But the villain, Hacker, released a virus on her. And so the three kids, together with a weird bird named Digit, have to stop Hacker's evil plans. Cyberchase teaches a lot of math, I guess my interest in math and programming came from this cartoon. -Age 11-14: THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY & MANDY This one was pretty bizarre in a way, can't even explain it... but it was a LOT of fun. What about you? Ah, and just to be fair, I'll make a exception for Dragon Ball, most of the young fans didn't know that was an anime anyway. Quote
Guest Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 You mean shows right ? teletubbies wasn't really a cartoon was it ? I just want to clarify before answering. And perhaps this thread belongs to G&C more specificaly ? Quote
Nosebleed Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I still fail to comprehend how the Teletubbies were a thing. I have never seen such an eerie cartoon in my entire life. I'm sorry but that giant baby face in the sky haunted my dreams when I first saw it and I'll never be able to forget all the horrible nightmares. Well for me it'd be The Angry Beavers, I'll never forget those 2 characters that made me laugh out loud as a child. Since I didn't have cable TV back then I'd literally go around visting my friends' houses just to watch this show, that's how much I loved it. Good times. Another one would be The Powerpuff Girls, weird one I know but I loved watching this show, I still have the movie that I begged my parents to let me buy in some drawer in my living room and I'm sure if I watched the show again i'd probably still enjoy it. Quote
Inori Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I really enjoyed Ed, Edd n Eddy, Doraemon and Beyblade. Quote

Life Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 When I was young I watched quite a few. Ben 10, Winx club (don't ask), the legend of Aang. The one that stood out most for me at the young age though was The Land Before Time. Unfortunately not many people know about it from the people I talk to. Quote
FruitsPunchSamurai Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 BLUES CLUES, until Steve went to college. The rugrats. There's also SpongeBob SquarePants which I still watch to this day lol. Quote
Guest Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Well he didn't even answer me ... thanks ... Childhood cartoons then ... Well ¨Powerpuff girls, Totally spies, Galactik football and Oban Star Racers which are both French anime, so not really anime, it's got that French touch ya know. As for earlier I used to be the biggest Thomas the tank engine fanboy Quote
Nosebleed Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I see, you fondness for lolis has come from a long way, huh... I didn't like them because they were lolis, I just thought the overall format was entertaining and most importantly the characters were memorable, even the villains were likeable. Quote
Jptje Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I didn't watch cartoons a lot, I mostly spent my free time as a child playing video games. I did sometimes watch them though: Teletubbies as well, I'm afraid (if you call it a cartoon, that is). I remember I'd watch Teletubbies whenever I was sick until I was 10... if anything, it makes you forget you're sick. Spongebob also deserves a mention, whenever there was nothing on tv I'd often end up watching spongebob. The dutch voice actors for spongebob are so much better than the english ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAYt80vpNp4 (Dutch episode, skip to 10:00 for awesomeness) Totally Spies is another one I liked until age 10 or so. Chocolat Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Hum, well for me it would be: _ Love me knight: I just loved the love story, even though with years I realized it was pretty cheesy... _ 64 zoo lane: Even though I've only watched a few episodes in my young days, I really enjoyed this show. _ Creepy: I found the heroine "cool and spicy~". and to conclude, I loved the first season of Galactic Football, but the last two seasons were kinda bad for me. Funyarinpa Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 More or less everything Nickelodeon... I practically grew up with Spongebob and Catdog. Quote

Lauren Faust knew knows how to make cartoons. Sadly, MLP has been plagued with bronies, furry lovers, and porn collectors now. A sad day indeed. Quote
Nagisa_Fawkes Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Well he didn't even answer me ... thanks ... Oh sorry for that!!! I meant cartoon really, I always considered Teletubbies to be a cartoon, not a show, but I guess that's wrong. I think the thread is in its right place here really, but if I'm wrong, any mod can move it right? Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 ...Bloody hell. I watched pretty much anything that was a cartoon, be it older ones or newer ones... Let's see, my favourites: 4-12 years old: -Wacky Races -Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines Scooby-Doo 13 years old: -Spongebob Squarepants All the time: Doraemon(same as Sgt. Frog) And, for some reason... Sgt. Frog. It aired here for some reason with spanish subtitles. My favourite "cartoon" (it technically isn't one, but I watched it the same way I watched the other ones, so it's in my personal cartoon category) ever. I also vividly remember Angry Beavers, Catdog, Ed, Edd and Eddy, Telletubies, Rocket Power, The Legend of Wang, Winx Club(I enjoyed this way too much) and Powerpuff Girls. But they were not my favourites. (The dubs for cartoons around here are pretty good [or at the very least used to be] which is the actual reason I watched most of these) Quote

monkeysrumble Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Of course! A classic! That and Woody Woodpecker. I remember watching this show when I was a kid and I loved it. I didn't know the name of it when I was a kid and I looked for it everywhere. I'm also having a nostalgia trip on Looney Tunes, I can still watch the Bugs Bunny and Tweety show to this day. Quote
