zeluqa Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 So I'm new to VN and I'd like to know what VN are good for newbs. I've just played Hoshizora no Memoria and I liked it, are there any good VN similar to that? With romance genre if possible (bishoujo game/galge) Quote
Tenkuru Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Try looking this: http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130817195517/visual-novels-general/images/8/88/VN2013-08-17.png Quote

Life Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I would recommend either planetarian and narcissu for people who are new to visual novels but I think other people probably have better suggestions. Quote
hussien-11 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 ef a Fairy Tale of the Two.. great production value and music. Quote
OriginalRen Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 As most people have suggested, try and start with VNs that are satisfying after finishing 1 route, and go from there. The easier it is to gain closure without having to go through multiple routes, the better. After that, work your way up to the longer games. astro 1 Quote
zeluqa Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Thanks for all the suggestion, maybe I'll check them out I only realised this just now that hoshizora's graphics are really awesome compared to others. Most VN graphics are not really that good I think, I'm not really used to it. Are there any VN with graphics as good as hoshizora? sorry for the dumb question Quote
Life Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Grisaia no Kajitsu has good graphics along with a really clean UI in my opinion. I also think rewrite by Key has pretty good graphics too. Quote
Chocolat Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 If you liked the art of this game, you should check some others works of the developers: http://vndb.org/p612 Quote
hussien-11 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Are there any VN with graphics as good as hoshizora? sorry for the dumb question I didn't play Hoshizora, but that's why I mentioned ef it is full of CG's and fantastic production value. Quote
Chocolat Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 You can also try Clannad and Rewrite, they're pretty good too. Quote
Okami Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 If you like Moege with good grafic and some decent plot here and there than I recomend you anything from Key. If you like Moege with good grafic and not so imortant story Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete. If you want a somwhat more serius, and darker VN that still has some Moe and good grafic Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji. If you want to try a serius story with a lot of twists and good grafic G-senjou no Maou If you want a mix of moege and action with a lot comedy with good grafic and a litlle bit of gameplay Kikouyoku Senki Tenkuu no Yumina If you want something prety dark with good grafic Swan Song Thats it for VNs with prety good grafic that I have played. Quote
Crimson Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I would recommend Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head or Rewrite. Anyways, if you're not sure to pick, you can always just pick one of Key's or Type-moon's VNs. I still don't even know half of their VNs but the general opinion on the internet seems to be that you can never go wrong with those two. Quote
Kanbe Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I'd start with key VNs. Little Busters, Rewrite etc Quote
shcboomer Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Thanks for all the suggestion, maybe I'll check them out I only realised this just now that hoshizora's graphics are really awesome compared to others. Most VN graphics are not really that good I think, I'm not really used to it. Are there any VN with graphics as good as hoshizora? sorry for the dumb question Yeah, Favorite has a fairly distinctive art style and Hoshimemo is newer in comparison to a lot of other VNs as well. Might want to give a Key VN such as Little Busters!, Clannad, or even Rewrite a go. They're on the longer ends of the scale, but are rewarding. Quote
zoom909 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Take a look at http://vndb.org/v232 and see how you like the art. Also, if art is how you choose, spend some time going through the english translated game list, look them up on VNDB, view the screenshots. Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 If you liked the art of this game, you should check some others works of the developers: http://vndb.org/p612Yeah, but he's looking for English translated games. Unfortunately, the only Favorite game with a completed English patch right now is Hoshimemo. Anyways, I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and recommend Little Busters as well. The game is just too great!Try looking this: http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130817195517/visual-novels-general/images/8/88/VN2013-08-17.pngWhat? They have Fate/stay night on the starter list? That's probably something you should save for when you get used to lengthy VNs (the length could easily deter a lot of beginners). Not saying it's not a great game, but I wouldn't call it beginner friendly. Quote
