Galaxy Express 999 was amazing, it was a great part of the Leijiverse.

I can't find many of Leiji's series likeable.

I also have issues watching older anime, the art gets on my nerves :S. The exceptions being things I was raised with (Dragon Ball, Lupin, YuYu Hakusho). 

Honestly, I've tried many times to get into classics like Evangelion and the older Gundams just to end up putting it off due to the animation. One day... one day... but not today

I watched Evangelion, but it bored me to no end. I only found episodes from, like, 17 to 23 entertaining. 

 

But besides that... um... I really have only watched anime from 2000 onwards, so I can't say.

I'm all about the old mechas, my favorite anime is Votoms from 1983. Chirico is a bamf.

I think I'd have to go with Maison Ikkoku. I love Rumiko Takahashi's art style and it animates wonderfully. It really feels more personable than a lot of 2000s anime to me, and I'm quite serious about that. I love Maison Ikkoku.

As far as the art goes I can watch about 95% of Anime without giving a damn about the art style or how old it is.
