AGTH/Text Extractor question

So, I think soon I may try out AGTH/Text Extractor tools to play some VNs, and I was wondering if there are premade text extractor programs that can be had, or if all the programming, creation and whatnot have to be done by the intended player himself?

If the former, does anyone know any of the better, or more reputable programs to be had?
