Drakengard Series... just getting started

I'm now going to do Ending E and last ending in Drakengard (PS2), so I want to ask people who are more confident of their understanding about the series.

 

Should I go and buy Drakengard 3 to see the prequel to this game, follow Canon Ending and continue to Drakengard 2, or follow Ending E and buy NieR.

 

Of course, if I bought D3+NieR I would need to save money, but I can buy one of them at least.

 

Also, one more thing I'd like to ask is... what are the Novellas about?, I made PDFs for each one of them so I could read them later but I don't really know what they are... like, stories from each character?

 

Also, I found something called Drakengard 1.3 in which the characters seem to have a different past, therefore they have different personalities... it might be interesting to take a read of it later.

 

Last thing is, the manga of Drakengard seems like it's located somewhere in the storyline of the first, but I'm not sure so I would want someone to explain this to me if they can... otherwise I can just search this on Google with a bit of spoilers maybe.
