LiquidShu Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Is anyone planning or wanting to go to Hatsune MIku Fest 2014 in LA or New York this year? I really want to and am planning out the funds I might have for it right now. Seems interesting and as I have only been to one other EXPO before it will be more or less new and exciting for me, if I do go that is. If anyone has been to Miku Fest what was it like? Quote

LiquidShu Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 They have recently announced the date and place of the actual EXPO in L.A. http://mikuexpo.com/la_exhibition "This event is held as a Japanese Matsuri-styled festival event, with an art exhibition around the universe of Hatsune Miku, featuring a selection of gorgeous artworks by popular artists, and centered around a special Halloween-themed space. Exclusive items will be on sale at the shop to make for a fun and original Halloween celebration!" I am really excited about this! I already have my concert tickets and the fact that the actual EXPO will be free means more $$$ I can spend on goods <3 Quote
suikashoujo Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 It's rough being in the midwest... everything good always goes to the big cities on either coast. I would go, but between a busy schedule and lack of money, I don't see it happening. Eh, maybe someday. Quote
LiquidShu Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 More stuff for Miku EXPO (no idea why I was calling it fest at first.. woops). LiquidShu Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 So a few days ago i went to Hatsune Miku EXPO in L.A, and well it was amazing. It was my first convention and I met a lot of nice people and cosplayers Took some photos/videos that I can upload if anyone is interested. Also bought a lot of merch and some new figures to start off my collection Quote
crunchytaco Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Both dates in those locations are on my work days. Otherwise I would not mind flying to NY to watch it. I could get out of the state every now and then. Glad you had some fun. I would like to attend more otaku events in America besides the F:SN UBW I attended recently. LiquidShu 1 Quote

zoom909 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I am a fan of Miku.* This sounds rather interesting.* Although it surely pales in comparison, I went to Anime Weekend Atlanta last month and saw the Miku concert there. It is of course not the one with the live musicians but still I got quite a thrill out of being there. I also got a new character art book / manga book of her, and I managed to get the autograph of Hachiouji-P while I was attending the Vocaloid panel. * I'm not the type to get all emotional in writing Quote
Heizei_koukousei Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 A few months ago I was talking with a few friends about going to the one in LA But I guess I completely forgot about it... Damn Quote

Damn The concert was realllllly fun! I can't say much about the convention since it was my first, can't compare it to others. Quote

You live in California so you didn't have to go very far How realistic were the effects in person? I'm sure there is no comparison to a video of a vocaloid concert Quote
reyaes Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I'm astonished from looking at the website. I knew there was some sort of culture movement behind the whole vocaloid thing, but I had no idea it was this extensive. I liked David Letterman's description of the performance on his show: "It's like being on Willie Nelson's bus." Quote
