Stray Cat Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Since it's going to be released in Japan in a couple of days I figured it's time to start this thread. What characters are you most excited for? News? Discussion? etc. Looks like the demo released has some new character information including Dark Pit, Falco, and Ness. http://www.siliconera.com/2014/09/11/dark-pit-ness-falco-ganondorf-confirmed-super-smash-bros/ Quote
Funyarinpa Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Personally especially after getting practically raped with Nintendo EU game prices I do not plan on buying SSB- for me this game is just the dictionary definition of "overhyped". Now I'll take my leave from this thread, to which I have nothing to contribute to. Quote
Heizei_koukousei Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I have always been a fan of Falco as a SSB character. I think Nintendo is going downhill though, their former glory has been tainted as time goes on. I bought a WiiU because I have always loved Nintendo, and I honestly haven't touched it in months. SSB isn't very high on my priority list. I'm much more interested in the new Zelda releases, but maybe someday I'll get around to it. Quote
FruitsPunchSamurai Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Unless there's something seriously awesome in the Wii U version I'll stick to buying 3DS version. Quote
arakura Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Do they have a gcn-ish controller for it? Ssbm is one of my all time fav games, but the wiimote is like Satan's idea for a controller. I don't own a WiiU, but the existence of this game with a new controller, or old adaptation of one, would get me halfway to buying one. Wii fit trainer looks amazingly fun! People buy story based games all the time expecting only to play them a run or two, but I've played Melee for hundreds and hundreds of hours. A hundred at least for Brawl as well, despite it being a much worse game. It's worth way more than what most games sell at imo, if the legacy is to be believed. It also looks better than Brawl. Tripping op Quote
zhurai Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Hopefully Ness won't suck in the proscene as much anymore. Quote
LiquidShu Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Have it on pre-order waiting to go. Getting a 3DS version since I don't feel like buying a Wii U. Stray Cat 1 Quote

Yukiru Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Will be buying indeed. I'll be using Link, most likely. I really want Snake there. Quote
Stray Cat Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 I'll be sticking with 3DS as well since I have no reason to buy a Wii U. I'm excited for Dark Pit but I really don't see much of a point in the character. Quote
hydro Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I may buy a Wii U eventually, but for now I'm only worried about the 3DS one too. Pre-ordered it a while ago along with Alpha Sapphire. I'm looking forward to trying out Greninja. Also happy my current favs Pikachu and Toon Link are returning. Quote
arakura Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I'm amazed by how many people are interested in it for 3ds. I didn't even consider that an option. Though I've contemplated buying one for Fire Emblem: Awakening, which I hear is the best of an already amazing series. Though it'll be hard to outshine Lady Lyndis... erm I'm off topic... Nintendo has made a huge deal about promoting this game (so much coverage!) Quote

Nintendo has made a huge deal about promoting this game (so much coverage!) I think it goes to show how many people don't have a Wii U. Aside from that, the portable aspect is convenient for quick online matches. Also looks like we get the Demo too on September 19th. http://www.siliconera.com/2014/09/12/super-smash-bros-3ds-demo-reaches-north-america-september-19th/ LiquidShu 1 Quote
hydro Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I'm not sure I'd by a 3DS for Smash, but as someone who already has the console it's a no-brainer. Same if I had a Wii U. And the reason more people have 3DS' than Wii U's is the insane amount of good games on the system. For what seemed like a fairly gimmicky console at first, it has an amazing line up. I don't even use the 3D, I just like the console for all its good games. I'd say it has at least 5 separate games that by themselves would be considered "console sellers" to different people, probably more. Quote

colekitt Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 In the demo I've only used link but toon link and meta knight look like they might be fun and fox which is who I usually used in the old ones. Quote
Stray Cat Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 I've gotten back to the point where I can beat level 9 CPUs in the demo (man those new controls take some getting used to), so I'm prepared. I'm considering organizing a tournament if anyone is interested once the game is out in all regions. LiquidShu 1 Quote
Funyarinpa Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I don't have the money (nor desire) to shell out $75 for this game, and I really hate the demo play limitation now. It's quite fun. However, Nintendo's systems are too archaic (Demo limitation at this day and age) and its EU prices are simply unacceptable. Will probably wait for a sale on Playasia or something, if I ever decide to buy this game. Quote
Yukiru Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I finally got to play it, but for some reason, I don't remember much about it, I guess I got too into it and didn't bother checking over the details. Quote

Stray Cat Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Apparently the Wii U version will reach North America on November 21st and Europe on December 5th. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 3DS games start at 40-45 $ as a result they don't lower but still that two thirds as much as other games. and of course demos are going to have limitations the whole point is to get you to buy the full game not give it away for free. Oh the naivete of an NTSC user. Quote
zhurai Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 should probably morph this thread to be more about strategy / competitions / friend codes Quote
nohman Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 That's a good idea. FC: 2793-2039-3366 What's everybody's main? Quote
