Amazon VN Recommendations

I have a $30 gift card for Amazon that expires in 30 days.  So I figured why not buy a VN with it.  I'll go above the price range if it looks really interesting.  Right now I'm thinking Saya no Uta.  Any other suggestions?

The options are pretty limited, everything is quite expensive on Amazon. Within that price range you might be interested in:

I would still go for Say no Uta though

I would go the extra price if something is really good.  I've heard good things about Kara No Shojo for instance.

Apply it to your account and the credit never expires.  It is only the card and its code that expires.

Kara no Shoujo is great, but if I am not mistaken, the voice acting was taken out because of licensing reasons. I'm not sure if it's worth it to buy something you will have to illegally patch either way to fully enjoy.

I wouldn't mind the lack of voice but that may just be me.  It is in English though right?

No, I bought the physical game from Jast not too long ago. It does include all the voice-acting. I just installed the game disc and was able to play it fine with voice and all.

My tastes might be strange/different xD but I enjoyed Princess Waltz (fantasy, action, moe). I also liked Crescendo (school life, romance).  I also liked Kana.  But I think Saya no Uta would be a good one to get too. I think you'd like Kara no Shoujo most... since you like mystery. It's quite dark though.

 

In Saya no Uta.. it mostly retains a dark atmosphere and sense of wonder throughout. In Kara no Shoujo, you can bounce back and forth between times of happiness and then plunged into helpless despair. That's the difference it felt to me.

Oh, that's tempting then.   It looks like there's two versions, voiced and unvoiced.  I wonder which this is.

I suggest getting the voiced one!  I especially liked Toko's voice. It's a beautiful VN, so you should get it complete with voice ^^

I agree but I can't tell if the one on Amazon is.   That'll probably determine which I get.

That's odd, I could've sworn that the voices were missing. Did they somehow get the license and patch them back in later...?

Mangagamer offered first the voiceless version and later replaced it by a version with voices. If you want, you can still purchase the voice patch from Mangagamer.

yeah, I meant to say I bought from MangaGamer I think, not from Jast xD.

 

I had read somewhere, at first they weren't able to to use it but later somehow got the okay to include it back again.
