Zalor Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Mai route was terrible though, i think the revelation of MC knowing her from childhood was an asspull. Her route was really too strange. Quote
kratoscar2008 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 But that its not the obly problem, her whole route really pushes too much my suspension of belief. Compared to the rest of the game and other routes. Quote
Zalor Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 But that its not the obly problem, her whole route really pushes too much my suspension of belief. Compared to the rest of the game and other routes. How about Ayu's route. Oh, and Makoto's route. Kanon is realist fantasy. It takes place in a world just like ours except that miracles exist. I don't see how Mai's route bothered you but the other two that I mentioned in spoilers didn't, as they were more supernatural. What I liked about Mai's route is that it left some big open ended questions. Anyway, just read my paper. I think my paper shows how everything in Mai and Sayuri's routes are thematically coherent. Also, if Mai's waiting for Yuichi for the past 10 years is what you found unrealistic. Then understand that female lovers waiting for their male lovers to return is a prominent aspect of traditional Japanese stories. I am currently taking a traditional Japanese theater class. We just read a play about two women spending eternity waiting for their lover. That play is called Matsukaze and it is around 500 years old. So understand that Mai's route is heavily influenced by Japanese culture, as Kanon is a Japanese story. Quote
