Oda could've changed island orders. He does plan things out, so... See, I feel like those revelations are a lot less impactful than anything in even Punk Hazard right now....? Even Luffy's Flashback arc right after Marineford felt more important during the fact, and it was about something that had already happened. Perhaps you're right and when it becomes relevant it will be a lot more exciting, but just reading it? After gaining important world-building to go so far as to change the make-up of the world and character making/developing information? Meh. It's not like it really does anything with the things Marineford built up, and it doesn't have Sabaody's sense of pure comedy...

Also, Oda already said that he finished the story already, he's just releasing it weekly now, so changing the orders would probably be really hard, plus we knew since long ago that going through fishman island is a necessity in order to get to the new world, no way he could change that at that point.

I meant more like someone with Oda's story-telling sense... That he planned everything out... I find it kinda puzzling he didn't realize how much of a let-down Fishman Island was after Marineford. It's kinda like getting Skypiea after Marineford, really.... Fishman Island is, in all respects but expectation, probably on the same level as Skypiea for me, I'll admit. Other than establishing everything post-time skip.

Sky Island was probably my least favorite.  It wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be, but it was really really slow and I didn't really care what happened as much.

If I had to rank them it'd be East Blue>Water 7>Thriller Bark>Summit War>Alabasta>Fishman Island>Sky Island (disregarding Pirate Alliance since I'm not there yet)

Skypiea I liked since I found the new setting interesting; kind of like it more than Fishman Island at the moment since at least stuff was happening at a better pace (for the most part as I do remember the bit with the snake was annoying). Plus I get the feeling the new fishman pirates aren't going to measure up much to Enel

There ain't many fishmen nor merfolks who are that strong, we could count only Jinbei and Fisher Tiger who truly showed some strength. Of course, since the humans absurdly outnumber them, it's fair to consider that having someone of Jinbei's caliber is already a big feat.

I think that what I loved the most about Skypiea and Fishman Island was how much fun I had reading it because of the adventure feeling they had. I also share the same thoughts for Thriller Bark to some extent, although I can't say it's really up there on my list.

Well at the end of the day it seems that their would be a reason why Oda put it in. Maybe we will find out in a couple of hundred episodes and be like "Ohhhhhhh, I remember that. Smart planning" or something like that. Or he might as well ust add something in relation to that and it might not be as meh as you think now. True it lacks some "spice".

Summit war? That's a pretty lame name, everyone prefer it as The War of the Best.

That said, that arc is the most epic since well.... he gon and died....

Though Dressrosa came close as first because of.... "that guy"

And Law's and Doflamingo's past.... too cruel....

Well their pasts may be cruel but who's isn't? Like think about most of the characters.....

I think theirs are the worst though out off all I know of every character's past in One Piece.

True but still i think Oda over did it with everyone having a pretty sad past and it left me sad but not as sad as i could have been after all those sad pasts. If you get what i am going at.

Yeah I get what you're getting at, but I for one really loves tragic stuff.

Well so do I but just like everything, if you use it too many times, you tend to devalue it completely.

Probably all of the pasts so far are memorable and incredibly sad. Hiruluk though is probably the fan favorite, and I won't deny he deserves it. My favorite is pretty obvious and it is yet to finish, I really love Corazon and Doflamingo had my respect as the best villain in One Piece, or at least as the one who Oda worked the best on. Summit War is the official name, so I chose to keep it.

Are you sure it should be summit war? I have only seen war of the best wherever i go.....

Skypiea is among my favorites, I don't think I'll ever understand how people can dislike it. And well, Dressrosa is more than covering the let-down most fans felt by fishman island. It's very likely to end up as the best arc in One Piece for me, even better than marineford.

I'm actually alright with Skypiea. Without Marineford hype, I'd probably just be alright with Fishman Island, I guess. I was saying that it has similar qualities of looking like a normal arc while dropping some p. cool hints.

Hnng I wanna catch up now... I have to admit

Sabo being alive

is enough to convince me that the arc's awesome and important in some way. The Gladiator battles were really long-feeling, though. Haven't really come across a One Piece arc that didn't feel long in some parts...? Other than Marineford. Because Impel Down took those parts on.

Yeah, that was part of what you quoted, don't worry. I haven't totally lost faith in Oda or anything lol

Looking it up on the One Piece wiki (I know...), it sounds like it's Summit War. And Viz's translated name is Paramount War. Which is kinda the same thing... How did people get War of the Best...?

One Piece wiki is actually a really great place, I think I have yet to come across fake or wrong information there.

It's way more awesome than just that, everything about it is amazing. Oda is going for a new level since we're in the New World, I believe he said in a SBS or an interview that the whole thing is only going to get heavier and darker from now on. Well, even if he didn't, we can notice it through the themes he's addressing in the recent arcs and how he is doing so.

War of the best is how people perceive it. We had some of the best pirates in the New World, the strongest man in the world and other big names against the marines and the shichibukai. From what we know, this is the first time that so many among the strongest reunited in a single place to fight, that's why the fans like calling it that way.

Thanks. Will use the wiki without regret from now on.

You... aren't helping my Dressrosa hype! Ahhh how close is it to being done? I just finish shonen manga arcs in batches once I've caught up....

Ohhh that makes sense. I thought someone translated it really, really oddly and it caught on. Admittedly, it makes me wonder what the final arc would be like 10,000 years from now when we finally get around to it... 'Cause Oda has to make it more hype than THAT!

We're close to the end of the mandatory flashback in each arc, probably only one more chapter, maybe two. After that, we'll probably have the important fights and maybe the post-arc that happens sometimes, so I'd say dressrosa will end in around six months, maybe less. However, I've seen some theories that if proven right, will probably lead it to end in around a year or so.

I don't know if it's legit or not, but apparently Oda said in an interview that the last arc will make Marineford look like a filler.

Okay, I'll join back on the One Piece train after the mandatory flashback arc, then. Six months is a little much.................. Hm...... Yeah, I'll start Dressrosa from the beginning next week, then. (I'll post thoughts if I have anything substantial).

Damn. It's too bad we'll never get there... Marineford was 500 chapters in and the midboss, right?! Or not even halfway... Man I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully the final arc includes absolutely everyone that was even kinda sorta important. The characters in One Piece really steal my heart. It might be too big of a cast to do that with, though orz

Yeah it was legit, he said it himself. Oda already finished the entire story technically, I mean he even once tell the ending to a kid who has a terminal illness as the kid's last wish.
