I finished the Jaya arc and got a couple of episodes into Skypiea.

It was very satisfying seeing Luffy floor Bellamy in one punch.

Also, this sky ocean stuff is trippy.

Whenever there is a flashback in One Piece, you just know there are feels incoming.

It's just really sad to see Corazon dying, even if we already knew it would happen, it still was so heartbreaking. Rocinante surely is among my most loved characters in OP, and I actually cried after he admitted he was a marine and apologized for lying. It's also really sad to think that Law never had a chance to show his gratitude or even say a simple "I love you" back to him. His actions right now against Doflamingo are certainly moved by a degree of guilt since he was the reason for Corazon's death, even if that is not actually what the man wished for him. Seriously, how can someone not love this guy?

My signature as well as some of my favorite images of Corazon, just a small tribute to him:

You're actually quite the fast watcher, you'll catch up with the anime in no time at this rate. Some fans call Skypiea a filler in the manga, and I highly disagree with that. Let's see what you think about it.

For me anyway, when reading it Summit War was not the most exciting.  Right now I'm at Impel down in the anime and it's about the same for me still.

Water 7 and Thriller Bark will still probably remain above it for me.

I found Robin's to be the worst. It was just depressing all around.........................

What...? Even given the (spoilers up until Fishman Island, I guess? For safety)

hints towards Haki and the Poneglyph?

How can that be filler...? Filler would be absolutely nothing of future import happens at all...

Its anime. It's trippy. Furthermore, it's One Piece. How could it not be trippy?  You tell me.

I mean it's been fantastical so far with supersonic ducks, shark men, and devilfruits, but I wouldn't call it trippy. Sailing on water-clouds on a boat and walking around on islands made of clouds seems more so to me.

Finished the flashback, thought it was good, and now it's back to the present. Bit worried since some people say that was the high point of the arc and there are still 26 more episodes to go...

Finished episode 557; I admit the plot started to drag a little after the flashback but thankfully things picked up when the reveal happened and then the Strawhats showed up to start fighting.

Only a few episodes left to go for Fishman Island, though I'm kind of curious about one minor detail:

Why is it  only Hody and Hyozo tried the tactic of scarfing down those energy steroids before a fight while the other fishmen pirates just took one? There doesn't seem to be any negative side effect to taking them aside from getting indiscriminately violent and they didn't seem to have a limited supply either. Probably wouldn't have made much difference in the fight with the Strawhats but still...

Okay, school's over for me except for exam week.

Now I can get back to watching. I haven't watched anything since my last post about Skypiea.

Finally finished Fishman Island and the 3 episode filler that followed. Regarding the former, I'll say that for me it's the weakest of the canon arcs but I can say it does have good stuff like the flashback, the world building and the fights were mostly good (though I do think the second half of Luffy's fight with Hody dragged). Also...

nice to know Jinbei's going to join eventually. My guess is it's probably whenever Luffy and co. end up fighting Big Mom since it's mentioned that the other Sun Pirates are working for her.

The main strike this arc has against it is its pacing, especially in the first half. It also doesn't help that compared to previous settings the Straw Hats stopped (for extended periods) at Fishman Island feels kind of small. I can understand that was probably the point for some story elements of the arc, but still...

As for the filler arc, for a three episode story it was good enough. The character Lily was likable and the premise its setting up for the movie it ties i with is interesting. The only problem I think it has is the villain; he just wasn't that impressive even for a filler villain.

Now on to seeing the movie and then it's on to Punk Hazard...

Regarding One Piece 769

Guess Doflamingo is tired of playing. He's completely destroying both Law and Luffy since the beginning of this fight. He got hit a few times but nothing even close to being as serious as the damage he dealt. As Oda said, One Piece will take a turn toward a more seinen environment now that we're in the Shin Sekai, and we can notice that with people starting to actually lose limbs and stuff like that, Law and Kyros being the examples in this arc.

Bellamy got some points with me after this chapter. I won't say that I like him now, but I definitely respect him more than before. I think it's really nice to see characters getting worked on in a quick and simple way like that.

I just went "woaaaaaah" when

Doflamingo cut Law's hand. Damn.

So seinen, which goes to my liking~

Every. Single. Character. Is. Fucking. Tragic.

Oh my God that latest chapter, and immediately one week hiatus after that.

That was awesome, I can't wait to see it in the anime...

I will definitely watch this chapter's episode when it airs, what a beautiful flashback.

I love how Oda is giving the Donquixotes some backstory and doing it rather quickly, but still in a good pace. I did a temporary change to the thread title and changed the cover, because Lucy Anne.
