And so it begins. Nohman and I will be competing in a Nuzlocke run of ORAS.   The rules are as follows:

  • Any Pokemon that faints is considered dead, and can no longer be used. 
  • The player may only catch the first Pokemon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokemon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a Double Battle in dark grass, the player may choose which of the two Pokemon they would like to catch. If you encounter one you've already caught, that does not count and you keep going until you find a new Pokemon.  However, if a Pokemon you have caught is considered dead, you must re-catch it.  
  • Pokemon can be switched at any time.
  • Healing and status items may only be used outside of battle and cannot be purchased.  Centers can be used freely. 
  • Players must also nickname all of their Pokemon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
  • A black out/white out will cause the trainer to count their entire party as dead and start anew.
  • Special encounter or gift Pokemon may be caught or used as long as they fit the above rules.  If not, they can be caught but not used until the challenge is complete. 
  • Voluntarily resetting and reloading the game when things go wrong is prohibited. 

There will be at least one battle after the Elite 4 (maybe more) to determine the winner.  Wish us luck.

Sounds awesome. I wished I had a copy of OR/AS. I can see the cursing when your best Pokémon dies at the 7th gym or something. xD

 

Interesting rules and the game is a lot more hardcore. 

 

But a few questions:

-Are still allowed to swap out "dead" Pokémons? You are going to catch a lot of Pokémons and probably need to swap/change your party according to the gym/situation. 

- Are you allowed to catch special Pokémons you encounter via special events even though you maybe already catched a Pokémon in that area?

 

I am thinking about buying it in 2 hours or s if it is available and decently cheap. Emerald version on Gamboy Advance XP was awesome. Is it possible to join in this event?

You always enjoy Pokémon no matter age.

 

Yeah, I agree. Age isn't the problem. It's just an issue of me not liking what they have done and haven't done to the game up to this point. Personal opinions. BLAGRGRGRGRGH.

Well the most common rules for Nuzlockes would be that you can't swap any pokemon on your team, which is still alive. That is not an official rule though and is entirely up to the player if they wanna put a restriction on themselves. This also means that you can swap a pokemon from your team if it is dead.

 

And about the special/event pokemon that is usually up to the player as well, since they are nice to have. The most hardcore players would say "no" though.

 

But I guess this doesn't really help since I don't know what rules they are using here ^^

I added yours and some other rules to the list above.   Swapping is fine no matter what.   Special or gift Pokemon that fit the rules above are good.  Otherwise they can be caught but not used. 

 

Here's my current status at Petalburg Woods:

Bruiser (Mudkip) Lv. 10

Black Fang (Poochyena) Lv. 9

Shimmer (Silcoon) Lv. 8

Orville (Tailow) Lv. 10

Spritzer (Shroomish) Lv. 5 (quiet nature, I knew my luck would end eventually)

Okay. Just got the game and I've started my journey alongside Hemlock, the gentle natured Treecko.

Looks like I need to catch up.

 

EDIT 1: Route 101 has added Damsel, the quiet natured Zigzagoon.

EDIT 2: Route 103 has added Raskolnikov, the jolly natured Poochyena.

EDIT 3: Route 102 has added Wurmple, the naughty Wurmple.

Second Gym Conquered.  Here's what happened before:

 

EDIT:  I've cleared through Slateport City now.   Boulder died bravely fighting against Team Aqua in protection of the Devon Parts (and mainly because I forgot that zubats have Inner Focus, so Fake Out was not a wise choice). 

 

Rusturf Tunnel: Rave (Whismur) Modest nature.

Dewford Town: Little John (Magikarp) Sassy nature.

Granite Cave: Boulder (Makuhita) Bashful nature.

Slateport City: Pikachu (Cosplay Pikachu) Sassy nature.
