arakura Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Joint locks and throws are actually really satisfying. Someone comes at you with a punch? Dodge, twist their arm, then use their own momentum against them and flip them. Admittedly, I've never used them in a real fight, and I haven't practiced karate for a few years now, but I still remember how to do them. Anyway...a really simple joint lock is pressing your thumb against the spot right underneath the knuckles of the last two fingers on the back of the hand while gripping the wrist with your other fingers and pushing forward, bending the palm forwards, towards the wrist. If it's applied correctly, you can get someone onto the ground from a standing position. You can actually try it on yourself, just be sure not to hurt yourself doing it, and don't push too hard. I also learned a really brutal way to get out of being grabbed from behind and pulled backwards that involves a twist using the opponent's momentum followed by a vicious uppercut to the crotch. They sure don't play around in karate No they don't but they also aren't as brutal as they could be. Small joint manipulation can be brutal and isn't something you practice in Karate generally. I believe it was among the more brutal elements of Karate that were phased out with it's transition to the mainland from Okinawa in the 20s. At least the Karate I learned was mostly void of the stuff and as far as I know it's a huge no-no in most any competitive sport . If I ever was going to get caught in a fight, the first thing I'd do is go for a finger and destroy it. That's my two cents, anyhow. Not that we were talking about it anyway. Whatever. CoC life, yo Quote

Yuuko Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Confession: I was born premature (supposed to be born around July 16th, was born May 18th instead) when my mom went into labor early, so I was hospitalized for almost the entire first year of my life, and actually quite a lot more after that, since I kept having problems related to being born prematurely. From what my parents told me, I almost died about 8 times as a baby due to various things, including a brain bleed (intraventricular hemorrhage). I was also supposed to have mild to severe brain damage, but they made the doctor that said that apologize to my parents, and here I am, just with a few minor learning disabilities. Fun fact: I had an Apgar score of 0 when I was born, which basically made me be classified as dead  Apparently I was blue, had no pulse, wasn't moving and wasn't breathing. I was apparently smaller than a loaf of bread, too. My parents were so fucking lucky they had insurance...I shudder to think what they would've had to pay if they hadn't had it.  Also, one of the doctors apparently published a medical paper about the case, so...somewhere there's an anonymous medical paper detailing my birth. Are you sure that you are not immortal? Quote

Zantax Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Got new job. IT administrator assistant you could call it I guess. Well, formally it's just a training, but my duties don't differ that much of thats other employees have. Also it's second time in the same place and still just training. And now best part - you won't guess how high my wage will be: equivalent of almost 250 USD per month. I won't buy much VNs with that I guess And no, It's not only because it's just a training - as a regular employee I probably wouldn't get more than 400 either way. Quote
