Rose Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I'm going on vacation trip for two months by the end of this week, so I figured I could read some VNs while not walking around and doing tourist stuff. Since I just finished both Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero, I'm currently in the mood for something with action in general. I have some options in mind but I just can't decide, as I'm equally interested in all of them. I'm also not exactly sure of how much time I'll have to sit down and read, hence why I want to have one long and one medium. For the long ones, I have Tsukihime, Rose Guns Days, I/O and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. For the medium ones, Shikkoku no Sharnoth and Sekien no Inganock have both caught my attention a while ago. Results: Long one Tsukihime (14 votes [58.33%]) Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (5 votes [20.83%]) I/O (4 votes [16.67%]) Rose Guns Days (1 votes [4.17%]) Medium one Shikkoku no Sharnoth (6 votes [25.00%]) Sekien no Inganock (18 votes [75.00%]) Quote
GetterEmperor Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I second Tsukihime for the long one and Sekien no Inganock for the medium length one. Quote
Heizei_koukousei Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I wish more people asked for recommendations this way Tsukihime + Sekien no Inganock Quote
Decay Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I'm the only one who voted for I/O??? I think it's quite good, but I also never played Tsukihime. I also voted for Inganock. Sharnoth is also quite good, but Inganock is the earlier title and probably even better. Quote
Clephas Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 If you look at just writing quality, Tsukihime is the best Type-Moon VN, even now. It just happens to suffer from visual and audio problems, lol. Quote
Kosakyun Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Huh. I recommended Tsukihime because why not? I enjoyed Fate/Stay Night a lot more than Tsukihime though. Or maybe it's because I had no BGM? We'll see after I reread. Quote
Ryechu Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 No-brainer if these are your choices. Tsuki + Sekein Quote
Rose Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 I think it'll be Tsukihime and Sekien no Inganock in the end, as they're pretty ahead on the votes. Sekien is pretty much overwhelming Shikkoku actually. I'll leave the pool open for a bit longer, even if the winners seem to be decided already. If you look at just writing quality, Tsukihime is the best Type-Moon VN, even now. It just happens to suffer from visual and audio problems, lol. I kinda understand the visual part since it's pretty old, so I'm aware the art ain't marvelous. When you say audio problems, do you mean the OST ain't good or what? I'm the only one who voted for I/O??? I think it's quite good, but I also never played Tsukihime. I also voted for Inganock. Sharnoth is also quite good, but Inganock is the earlier title and probably even better. I/O actually seems to have the most interesting plot out of them all, or at least the one with more mystery. Nyanko Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Sekien is the best to start with, just read Shikkoku after. Also, I/O is great! go for it! Poor Rose Guns Days deserves more attention too though, its really nice. Quote
Kurisu-Chan Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Even if Sekien no Inganock is overwhelming the votes, please consider reading Shikkoku no Sharnoth, it's such waste to just read only one of the series when the Two are equals in quality. Quote
Rose Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Even if Sekien no Inganock is overwhelming the votes, please consider reading Shikkoku no Sharnoth, it's such waste to just read only one of the series when the Two are equals in quality. I plan on doing so. This poll is only to decide which ones I'll be reading during my trip. If I end up managing to finish both, I might pick up more. Quote
kyrt Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I'm gonna say for the trip Tsukihime as you can turn off the H-content before beginning meaning you can actually play it without worry in public (if you do that). I am also going to say for the medium one seiken no ignarock for the reasons explained above. All of these visual novels are great reads though so if you don't want to follow the poll don't feel forced. You won't go wrong with any of them. I don't think all the games for Rose Gun Days are fully translated which is probably why it isn't getting voted on too much. Quote
RinXD Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I went with Tsukihime because F/HA is very tedious to get a complete clear in one go Quote

I went with Tsukihime because F/HA is very tedious to get a complete clear in one go Tedious? Could you elaborate on that? Quote
RinXD Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/931418-fate-hollow-ataraxia/faqs/63827 that all of that is why its tedious you gotta do things at certain times during the day Quote
Decay Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Like most of the previous 07th stuff, Rose Gun Days comes in four parts, and only parts 1, 2, and half of 3 are translated. Quote
Kosakyun Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Tedious? Could you elaborate on that? It's sort of like Kagetsu Tohya in a sense. You need to do specific things, or a specific order of things, to unlock different events for the game. These events will gradually lead you to the true ending, which will be the end of the four-day loop, I assume. I haven't played it, but that's what I've heard. Quote
