First, I finished 999 a few days ago and alread bought [and have 10 hours of] VLR, so I can say that I'm loving it. But, not everything are flowers [do this expression exist in english?], and I have some questions and considerations.

1 - Is Clover from VLR the same from 999? I mean, they are SO different, in many ways, and that kind of makes me wonder if it is an other girl called Clover. But, that wouldn't make sense since she knows Allice.

2 - Alice = All Ice? Does this game explains what the hell happened with her and how she got in this Nonary Game?

3 - I hate the english dub. All voice actors look like a robot speaking ._.

4 - I love Zero III <3 He is so bunny [i tried]

5 - Since I saw some stuff about a third game, I have to ask: Why isn't there one yet? And does the story from VLR end like 999, with a cliffhanger?

6 - LAST QUESTION I SWEAR: Was Zero from 999 ...

Junpei or Akane? I understood that Akane created the second nonary game so she could be saved by Junpei, and that's why she was alive playing with them. But at the same time, in some parts, Junpei says he is the past-Zero. That confused me.

Tiago's answers didn't spoiled too much. Thank you!

I want to read and discover everything, obviously, but these things were bugging me, so I had to ask haha And I really had to complain about the voice actors </3

As a person whose favorite game is Virtue's Last Reward, I'm glad to see another person love the games!

About the third game...

Let's have a small history lesson.

999 goes out in Japan. Mediocre, if not failed, sales. Somebody decides to take a risk and publish the damn game in the West.

Year's 2010. The game is a surprise hit. It's declared one of the best DS games (both my IGN and Kotaku, if I am not mistaken), a statement I wholeheartedly agree with. The game sells much more than expected, and it probably turns a profit because a sequel starts to be made. Keep in mind that a VN gets a sequel because of its success in the West.

2012. Virtue's Last Reward goes out, slightly "softened"compared to 999 because of the JP fans' complaints, and spectacularly bombs in Japan. The game has mediocre sales in the West as well, even though the fanbase generally regards both games to be of the same extremely high quality.

February 2014. Kotaro Uchikoshi (the series' main writer) declares that Zero Escape 3 is put on "indefinite hiatus" by Spike Chunsoft due to the second game "not being profitable enough".

It really hurts that these news appeared literally one week after I started playing Virtue's Vast Reward. ;-;

After you finish VLR's True Ending, Spike Chunsoft will likely be both your favorite and least favorite studio of all time.

So it is a money problem... that's really a shame :c Still, a hiatus is better than "cancelled", I guess, so probably with more money we can get the third one...

AFAIK Uchikoshi once said Kickstarter wouldnt work for Japan but 'was looking at other options'.. not sure :s
I feel for the guy, he clearly wants to see his game made as much as we do.
Surprised to hear VLR didnt do well here.
