Nosebleed Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I've been listening to this song series for a while and now I see it's getting an anime. This will be the 2nd Vocaloid song series to get an anime (after Kagerou Project). It seems that a lot of these vocaloid song series are sprouting Light Novels / Manga (Heisei Project, Kagerou Project, Nou Shou Sakuretsu Girl, Bad∞End∞Night, etc just to name a few) which are then turning into anime. What do you feel about this? Also hyped for Mikagura School Suite? Unlike Kagerou Project, Mikagura School Suite is very straightforward and doesn't require a whole lot of thinking as the story just revolves around the school life of a group of friends and their quirks so I'm either expecting a fun romcom or just a simple comedy. Each of the characters belongs to a different club and the series (song one) follows them around in their club activities (although sometimes things get a little deeper but nothing too dramatic) The official description for the story is: The Mikagura School Suite is a a boarding high school, where each of the students must join an after-school activity club. The representatives of the clubs then battle between each other with their special abilities, and the results of these battles influence school life of all of the club members. The school only allows clubs of the cultural type. The story begins with Ichinomiya Eruna, who is a freshman at Mikagura High School, and shows her first days at new school and how she interacts with various other students which all belong to a different school club. The guide book given to all new students, which Eruna carries, reveals several school rules: 1. All freshmen must join one extracurricular activity club within one month. Any student that does not do so will be expelled. 2. If you wish to create a new club, it will only be accepted if you have three members. However, the school only admits cultural activity clubs. 3. The tournaments that are held at fixed intervals will determine the rank of all the clubs existing in the school. The ranks will influence the clubroom assignments in the dormitories for all club members, their food, and other similar school life matters. The tournaments will be judged solely by the teachers. The studio producing the anime is the same one that did Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (Doga Kogo) The virst visual released was the character design for our main character (I believe protagonist as well) Ichinomiya Eruna and her flying cat Bimii Original artwork from the vocaloid series for comparison Character cast: From left to right, top to bottom, with the respective clubs they belong to Going-Home Club: Mikagura Seisa (御神楽星鎖) Drama Club: Akama Yuto (赤間遊兎) Art Club: Kuzuryu Kyoma (九頭竜京摩) Manga Research Society: Ninomiya Shigure (二宮シグレ) Calligraphy Club: Yasaka Himi (八坂ひみ) Freshman: Ichinomiya Eruna (一宮エルナ) Flying Cat: Bimii (ビミイ) Astronomy Club: Imizu Asuhi (射水アスヒ Flower Arranging Club: Minatogawa Sadamatsu (湊川貞松) Here's the first song in the series if you're interested in listening to it before making a comment My personal favorite is Ecstatic Vivace because Himi is adorable~ Quote
Rose Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 It seems interesting. I heard the first song a while ago but never really got into the series, but I might give it a chance. Is there any preview for the release date? Quote

Is there any preview for the release date? Unfortunately no, it was just recently (12/12) announced it got an anime adaptation, there's no news on any date or even an animated PV. There is however a website that was created for the anime so you can follow it if you want updates: http://mikagura-gakuen.com/ If you want to listen to all the songs in order (there's only 5 songs so far) Afterschool Stride A Lethargic Coup d'etat An Ecstatic Vivace Trashy Innocence Seeing A Sixteen-Day-Old Moon Quote
Jibril Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 5 songs and an anime adaptation while Kagerou project needed around 20+ hahaha~ Quote
Nosebleed Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 5 songs and an anime adaptation while Kagerou project needed around 20+ hahaha~ Well Mikagura School Suite also has a light novel and a manga so that might be why. I see a lot of negativity on other websites towards this adaptation due to the Mekakucity Actors anime, kind of disappointing. While Mekakucity Actors had its fair share of problems and was overall poorly recieved (the way the original story was structured just didn't allow the anime to really bring out its value as a 1 cour series) Mikagura School Suite is entirely different and presents itself as a linear story with a much more "shallow" plot that you can get into way more easily. There's no "crazy" elements, just regular human beings going on about their club activities in a school where the rules are a little peculiar but that's about it. Quote

Mekakucity Actors also has a manga and a light novel, though they didn't get released after like the 16th songs... not to mention the anime was done when SHAFT are focusing most of their time for Nisekoi's second half... and how Jin decided to put a happy ending route instead of the true route with the songs.... == Here's hoping for a Kagerou Project remake. Also for Mikagura School Suite, considering its just SoL anime and is being adapted by the studio of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, there's little chances that it'll messed up. Quote
Nosebleed Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 The studio's backlog is not a complete trainwreck so I was hoping it'd turn out good. I mean Gekkan Shoujo was a beautiful anime so I was hoping this one would go along those lines. I think it has potential to be a good comedy if it's properly written. Still SoL oriented but I like SoL so I don't have any problems with this part Quote
LiquidShu Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Seems interesting, thanks for linking the songs will keep an eye out on this series. Quote
