Nosebleed Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 There's some ecchi moments with Yuuji and Shana i believe, but nothing on the level of ZnT. Mainly because SnS is a lot more serious so at one point comic relief and ecchiness just disappear altogether. But in the first season you'll probably have some moments. Also i love how i forgot Shana was taking someone's body throughout the whole thing, it completely goes over your head after a while lol. I like regular Shana over redhead Shana~ Eclipsed 1 Quote
GetterEmperor Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 k I got my hw and studying done for the weekend and now dove into episodes 1&2 for Shakugan no Shana Impressions(spoilers) Misc. Seems to be a good amount of interesting supernatural lore to go around with the Torches and whatnot so I'm looking forward to it  (i lik lore) Good thing Hirai-san wasn't given much character development. I'm HORRIBLE with character deaths, especially for characters I grow fond of (I get depressed-ish for a day or two >.>) Comparisons with Zero no Tsukaima (cuz we all love doing comparisons) OMFG THE VOICES ARE THE SAME!@# Like I know you guys already told me Shana would = Louise, but you didn't say that Yuuji would = Saito also LOL!!! It friggen' gave me goosebumps. Feels like I'm just watching an alternate dimension storyline involving these two or something. Shana is like a more cold Louise; her voice is a bit deeper when in Flame Haze mode (though obviously she has the exact same 'cute' voice when in 'dere mode) Yuuji sounds the same as Saito pretty much... then there's the Familiar vs. Torch comparison yada yada... there's no ecchi tag for SnS soo I'll be spared any nonsense relationship drama involving perversion with other females right? >.> Question: Going off of the ecchi thing, I actually really liked the 'adult' flirting going on b/w Saito & Louise (ie. he would grope her and get her to say naughty things and she would go along with it). Will Yuuji & Shana's relationship include these 'adult' elements or will they just be 'casual' (have no perverted moments together)? Question: Do you like red Shana or black Shana >.> Pretty hyped so far Quote
Eclipsed Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) @Getter & Nosebleed u guys have good taste I was actually pleasantly surprised to find out that Shana isn't permanently red >.>Â Â @Nosebleed dammit . I'll try to savor the moments that do arise then Edited March 23, 2015 by Eclipsed Quote

I like regular Shana over redhead Shana~ What are you talking about, it comes up in the very last episode  It was a huge motive for Yuuji, he wanted that girls soul torch thing released as if we'd fucking remember her, remember?  Also, ZnT is shounen while SnS is seinen. The ecchi is very limited. Although, the final episode (or two) of S1 has a LOT of panty shots out of no where. Like, there was really any whatsoever in the show, but that (those) episodes had a bunch for no reason. Quote

Seriously halfway into season 1 i don't even care about it anymore. When they mentioned it again in the last episode i was like "oh yeah there was that too wasn't there?" Quote
Turnip Sensei Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I finally decided to catch up with monogatari series and watch hana- and tsukimonogatari. Then I realized that I couldn't remember clearly what was going on, I started by watching 2nd season again. I kinda missed the shaft weirdness, eccentric conversations and Senjougahara. More so because Bakemonogatari was one the first anime I ever watched, if studio Ghibli movies doesn't count. Looking back, I have no idea why I decided to start with Bakemonogatari. I also didn't remember that Shinobu was so cool, her way of talking is pretty amazing. Quote
SilverLi Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Decided to pick up Gochiimon wa Usagi desu ka and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya before spring season begins. Quote
Kosakyun Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 In my opinion Seto no Hanayome is a masterpiece of romcoms, being able to provide great comedy which is an aspect a lot of romcoms fail to deliver. In terms of the romance itself, it does develop it to some extent and the conclusion really hints at how the characters feel about each other, but don't expect some Itazura na Kiss. Just enjoy the hilariously fun ride that is this show. Â I can settle with this. I just can't forget the protagonist rubbing the pink haired mermaid's butt because he was trying to wipe off the milk. Then boom. Daddy's there to save the day. Â Anyway, I watched To Aru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki the other day. It was quite unsatisfying, to say the least. Well, I enjoyed the show, really. Like, I don't regret watching it hahahaha. Arisa's really cute. My only problem is that it, uh, feels incomplete. I didn't even get to see what happened after the event. Like wat. Â They should rename the movie to To Aru Majustu no Index: The Musical. Â ARISA'S REALLY CUTE. Quote
Abyssal Monkey Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Oh yeah they totally bring it up all the time w. Seriously halfway into season 1 i don't even care about it anymore. When they mentioned it again in the last episode i was like "oh yeah there was that too wasn't there?" Agreed. Halfway through, you're just like: "Wait, thats right, she's still occupying a different girls existence to everyone else. I really dont care any more" Â Black haired Shana is only Shana. Quote
SilverLi Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Anyway, I watched To Aru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki the other day. It was quite unsatisfying, to say the least. Â I felt the same. Give me more seasons instead! Quote
zoom909 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I saw Omoide no Marnie and it was remarkably good. And I'm not a Ghibli fanatic by any means. (And, the English subs on the Japanese Blu Ray were excellent. It's nice when a Japanese publisher show's they're serious about reaching an English-speaking audience.) Quote
Eclipsed Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Episode 10 Shana I laughed at this way more than I should've:Â Â Â Quote
GetterEmperor Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Caught up with Parasyte. Can't wait for the next episode. Also started Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. Quote
nohman Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Watched about 16 episodes of Baby Steps so far. Probably my favorite sports anime I've watched over the past couple of months. Maybe even more so than Chihayafuru, at least when it comes to the sport bits.  Also on episode 9 of Usagi Drop. Sweet and endearing show sugarcoating some adult themes. Pretty enjoyable. Quote

Chronozael Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Currently rewatching Spice and Wolf. Can't get enough of holo. I really don't understand why spice and wolf don't have a 3rd season. And I read the ending of the LN, it's so sweet. Quote

Nosebleed Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Being the romance enthusiast i am, i think it's time i finally start Spice and Wolf. A title i have kept in my PTW since 2012. I am staying positive given the fact most people i know enjoy it. Quote
zoom909 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I got around to watching the Idolmaster movie. It was "good". The K-On movie was great. This movie was just "good". It was 2 full hours. I started to yawn some during the 2nd half of the movie. I started to get restless. I felt like the big concert at the end came just in time. There is something a little off about the pacing of this movie. If you've seen it, do you agree? Quote
Nosebleed Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I have to agree, most of the time i was yawning. In fact most of im@s has a lot of pacing issues, it just feels like it's lacking a core to make you emphasize with the characters and really pull you in. I don't feel a friendship vibe or a "cute girls doing cute things" vite. It feels.. synthetic. I couldn't care for the side characters all that much and the whole movie was more about how Haruka is awesome (which, to be fair, she is) and everyone else is just sitting there. And 2 hours of it were pretty unbearable, i had to pause every 45 mins. This whole franchise has consistently failed to make me feel some form of deeper empathy for its characters. And while I do legitimately like some characters, both the series and the movie are just lacking that something you can't exactly put your finger on. All i could think when i finished both the movie and the series was "it was alright". Quote
zoom909 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Oh, I see. Well I don't have any problem with Idolmaster as a whole (<--gross understatement)  Really I just feel that the movie was too long. Whereas in your case it sounds like you can't connect with the characters ('lacking a core to make you emphasize with the characters' is not really a pacing issue but something else)  P.S. If I were to pick out something about Idolmaster I really didn't like, it would definitely be Xenoglossia. Quote
Nosebleed Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 As a whole i enjoyed the series more, just because it had more stuff going on. The movie was indeed too dragged out. But my core problems with im@s still prevail in both. I still don't hate the series, but it'll never be high on my idol anime preferences. At the very least it's above WUG. I mentioned the whole not being able to empathize with the characters thing because that's what contributes to me feeling like it's a drag to watch the show. I want to care for what happens but it's hard and so things feel nedlessly long. Quote

Nosebleed Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I watched 3 episodes of Spice and Wolf and i have to say Holo really reminds me of Shinobu from Bakemonogatari which is great since she's one of my favorite characters of all time ever. And the relationship she has with Lawrence is also the type i usually enjoy. I look forward to see where this leads. Quote
Eclipsed Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Ep 20 Shana Shana pls you're awesome but you've been moping around for the past few episodes and making Yuuji misunderstand + get pissed (worst type of drama) pls just confess already and happy ending Quote
