Mr Poltroon Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Also, will this VN be in English? This VN will be in English... Only if someone decides to translate it and make a patch. All other Key games have been translated, so there's no reason to assume this one won't. Quote
Segai Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Ah, so after the hype train we'll need another hype train for the English patch. Well can't be too bad. Quote
Decay Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Honestly, I feel like it's pretty likely that Sekai Project will make Angel Beats its next big Kickstarter. I wouldn't be too hasty with starting up fan projects for it, it would likely be a wasted effort. Key is SP's territory now and it's kind of pointless to start any new projects for their games unless SP begins to show no interest in translating them, which does not seem to be the case. Quote

Nosebleed Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Wait, has an April start date really been confirmed? I haven't heard anything besides "coming 2015," but if it really is coming the smae month as the Angel Beats VN, then April is going to be an even better month than I thought. Oh sorry, the promotional video comes out April 2nd, the anime hasn't had a defined date yet. Though usually the promotional video shows the date it'll be airing so.. hype then. Regardless, Key is definitely trying to be on the map this year so I would assume they'll try to tie both the anime hype and the VN hype. Quote
periah250 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 See you in 2023. dont think itll take that long unless insem takes care of translation Quote

Shit, I pissed myself thinking about the soundtrack of just the VN, and now you toss me an anime as well? Quote
suikashoujo Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Wait wait wait. Theres an ANIME coming along with this!? Shit, I pissed myself thinking about the soundtrack of just the VN, and now you toss me an anime as well? The anime is called Charlotte, and it's unrelated to Angel Beats. There is going to be a new AB OVA, though. Quote
douggle Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Whenever we do get the localization I seriously hope they don't go the crowdfunding route. Too much hassle it almost NEVER goes smoothly just take a look at the Grisaia Kickstarter and that whole mess Quote

Too much hassle it almost NEVER goes smoothly just take a look at the Grisaia Kickstarter and that whole messYou're comparing apples and oranges. Angel Bets is all ages. Assuming someone wants to crowdfund its localization, they wouldn't run into any problems with kickstarter since they're not breaking any rules, unlike Grisaia which is an actual eroge. Did you see how successful the Clannad kickstarter was? This would probably be the same if it happened, thousands of people love Angel Beats, and unlike any other Key VN, Angel Beats the vn provides a LOT of new content the anime never could. So yeah if they were to crowdfund it, i have no doubt it'd be a huge success. But it's still too early for that imo. This is only a partial game, there's going to be 19 routes in total (or at least that's what they originally announced) which is still going to take a looong time to come out, there's not much appeal in localizing an incomplete game just yet, even if Yui's route (best grill) is in it. A translation project could start but it'll likely take some years, and with SP so interested in Key games, translation teams will likely think twice before pouring in work. In the meantime you could learn Japanese faster instead of worrying about these trivial matters Quote

Abyssal Monkey Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 No, you are assuming its all ages, from the CG's released it looked like it might be 18+ If they make Angel Beats 18+, I will be shocked. Seeing as it was an anime first, and most Key stuff is "Oh hey, here's some random sex, now forget about it and start crying again." I don't think that it would be conducive to 18+. They might push it into the 18+ territory by other means, but I doubt it would be sexual, as it would ruin what is already in place with the anime. Honestly, I think it would be an awful idea to make this 18+, it just doesn't fit the pre-existing at all. Quote

Nosebleed Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 They're selling preorders of the game already, it's listed as all ages, they can't legally sell you a product with a fake rating. Suggestive CGs do not equal porn, it's just average fanservice that even Little Busters had. Quote

Fair enough but thats not to say they wont pull a LB:Ex down the line Which was released AFTER the initial release. Quote
Nosebleed Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Maybe so, but the current Angel Beats 1st Beat is most certainly all ages. If there will be an EX version or something we'll have to wait and see. They mentioned at one point that the rating was undecided but they went with all ages for now. But we should be glad because Key can't write decent h-scenes. If they release an 18+ version that'd make things more iffy for localization. I'm hoping they won't, though. Quote

Abyssal Monkey Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I dunno their hscenes are certainly better than type-moons I mean they aren't anything special but I certainly wouldn't object to an 18+ release. Type-Moon's H-Scenes were written by the artist because Nasu said he couldn't write one into the story for the life of him, so he asked the artist (hell if I can't remember his name) and he basically told him how to do it. Unfortunately, back then, you couldn't sell a VN on story alone, and it had to have sexual content. Early VN studios still haven't learned to write 18+ into a story properly, and it's pretty sad. I can respect Key for basically abandoning it in the current market where the story can stand on its own. Quote

Sakimichi Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 So great that this games gonna be released for PC. I was worried they'd shove it to VITA like all the recent anime-to-game adaptation. All hail Key! Quote
Abyssal Monkey Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Now that I'm thinking about it, I would actually enjoy this more if they completely down-scaled the romance portion of this. The anime had a great setting, and it only had romance near the end (I don't know, I'm usually bad at these things). I was interested in it enough without the romance that got added in the end, and at that point I didn't care. I'm waiting to see how they go with this, either way I'm probably going to pick up the soundtrack to pick it apart like I did with the anime's. Quote

Romance was a big part of Yui's story and it seems like they're expanding it in her route in the VN. Other than her, Iwasawa's route has her get with Otonashi from the CG they've showed. I'd imagine a few other female characters will have romance, but maybe not all if they actually do 19 whole routes. Quote
