Episode 2 Impressions:

 

So it seems by episode we seem a bit more emotional development and find out what trope they fall into. We meet an idol who seems to be all happy happy, but clearly is a complete soul crushing bitch and Hitoe fitting the silent glasses no friends type.

 

As you might imagine, its not enough for the timid to lose, she has to be emotionally destroyed, once again laying it on thick about how as girls grow up, life is tough and innocence is ripped away.

 

Near the end of the episode we see Yuzuki tell MC she is an emotional-less monster.

 

Overall the series seems pretty decent still, perhaps I am struggling to ignore the subtext that is getting beaten into my face as I watch it.

 

Only 2 episodes in and I'll give it this, it really conveys the feelings its trying to get over

 

I think the part that's really hitting me though, you know there can only be one and I feel bad at the thought that so many will get those dreams and wishes ripped away.

 

Surely the fact Hitoe makes a friend means in a way she wish is kind of granted. (Even though technically that's not actually set in stone so far)

 

Mostly hoping that Yuzuki learns from this battle and becomes a lot better, because so far we've only really had depression from her.

Episode 3 Impressions

 

We learn that depending on who battles who, the arena changes based on deck type. The MC battle starts off as a nice happy battle with Yuzuki and crazy bitch going all out.

 

As you might expect, seems players feel some of the actions against their characters, also seems MC has some sort of super rare card or something that is OP as hell. (Reminds me of MC from Persona 3)

 

They use numbers for power, but there isn't really a scale to measure.

 

The high point was when Yuzuki's card tells her to stop being such a bitch and deal with it.

 

Animation was pretty cool and overall nice feeling.

 

I just wish they wouldn't have the character fall into some emotional distress for the sake of plot.

 

Loved the sort of Hitoe backstory, she is a really cool character, here's hoping this isn't the last we see of her. Its nice that Hitoe didn't want a pity win either.

 

Their battle is so much better, but I totally get the feeling MCs role through the whole thing will be to fix the flaws in other characters

 

After winning the battle, we realise that the MC card is some sort of crazy evolve card and can now speak. I am glad she didn't turn into some sort of crazy card eating monster though

 

Also a prize to someone that can tell me how Tama actually changes.

 

Loved the ending, everything seems so bad for Yuzuki, she feels she's losing her brother, turns out he was a total bro, getting her the card she needed, no doubt we will find out more information later.

 

Here's to some more happy moments.

 

I love the ending though, we see how crazy that bitch is, you want her to fail so much :D

 

And we meet Iona, another Selector.

I wonder why I was overlooked for the cycle anime...I really dislike having both seasonal and cycle in the same place.

 

I decided to finally post a response to True Tears...

 

Visuals: Honestly for P.A. Works first anime I thought it was visually pleasing and detailed. I rather enjoyed the background images and while the character designs did slip a bit they were generally fine if a tad generic. No static backgrounds for the win. 

 

Music: One of the pieces of redemption for this anime even when the script was going off track the music helped the viewer feel the mood of the situations. Considering it was done by Hajime from Eufonius it's not completely surprising. 

 

Story/characters: I really enjoyed the beginning of this anime and it continued to build up a decent momentum and keep me interested for the long haul. I rather liked the characters but then came the big problem with the series. In episode 9 what should have been the setup for the back half of the season was so horrible that despite how much I enjoyed various parts of this anime I can't in good consciousness say it was good. The characters completely changed and where I felt sympathy I lost sympathy. It had the makings of being pretty damn good but this episode ruined it. 

 

Enjoyment: For all it's problems I did really enjoy this series for the first half. I struggled to finish it after episode 9 because it just went downhill and never really managed to pick itself back up. 

 

 

Before episode 9: 8/10    After episode 9: 6/10 so averages to about a 7/10 overall...I wasn't as upset as others were.

Just checked out the first episode.

 

Ep. 1 Impressions:

 

Definitely feeling some of the Madoka in this, but not as much as was made out to be in earlier posts here. The premise is interesting enough, and I rather like the art style as well; especially the backgrounds. Will have more comments on that as time goes on I guess

 

Props for the creepy dream that reminded me of Knights of Sidonia. o-o ... I have a really bad feeling about that.

 

I also have a bad feeling about what will happen after 3 losses, but come now who doesn't have a bad feeling about that?

 

Will probably watch a bunch of it later on tomorrow, as I still need to finish what I was watching before (last four episodes of Love Live and the second half of Kare Kano). The rest of my episode things will come in clusters, because I don't wanna type up individual impressions for 12 episodes.

 

 

All in all, the first episode shows promise.

Wow, Akira confirmed major bitch.

I feel really bad for Yuzuki, but i'm cheering for her. Fighto~

So far Ru's the least interesting chacharacter which is kind of a shame since she's the protag., though there's still chance for her to be important so let's not be too pessimistic.

Tama on the other hand gives off this yandere vibe i can't shake off. Really curious about her.

Lots of interesting plot elements were revealed, i can't wait to see where the show goes, i'm liking it so far.

Main flaw i see in it, though nothing major, is the fact that the game hasn't been expanded on, i have no clue how anything works which kind of makes watching the game unfold a little less enjoyable. Or at least leaves me scratching my head.

But at the same time i see that's not the main focus of the anime so again nothing too game changing, you can still understand by the reactions when something's good or bad so.

Oh wow so we're starting on Selector huh.... drat, I want Mawapeng because I've seen Selector already... both seasons too....

....Oh well, Killy Killy Joker is already more than enough reason to rewatch it~~

I haven't gotten to season 2 yet, so the re-watch is useful for me.

So you're saying you're fine with the cliffhanger in season 1? Like you didn't feel the urge to scream "WHAT HAPPEN NEXT???"...? I.... I'm amazed....

Oh and what I feel when watching the first season back when it aired.

I know i expected sadness. But damn...

At the same time i can't stop watching it. All the characters are getting great development, the plot gwts darker and darker, i'm loving it.

At least the show fit in the kind of thing i was looking for when i suggested the genre so props for choosing it.

Despite popular opinion, I actually know what I'm doing. 

 

But yea, it's one of my all time favorites.

I'm totally foreseeing Yuzuki and Ruko breaking up.

And/or Yuzuki losing :(

What's great about this show is that i still can't predict where it's going.

But it's still incredibly fun to watch. So many different prespectives.

I'm sure i the end this is just some weird social critique of sorts, but who cares.

Really having a blast, solid 8, maybe 9/10

One more episode before napping.
