FinalChaos Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I want to play a vn which has a dark protag or has revenge as a major theme.By dark protag I'm mostly indicating to ones who aren't like the general protag who helps literally everyone. All suggestions are welcome. I don't know japanese so only translated ones. EDIT: The revenge theme isn't necessary, it's more of an optional/extra thingy. The vn should have a dark protag primarily. Clephas Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Sad... because Hello, Lady is exactly what you want. However, it is untranslated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liL1WbFxKsg Quote

EldritchCherub Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Notable translated VNs with the revenge tag are G-senjou no Maou, Kara no Shoujo, and Hanachirasu. Quote

Decay Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Kara no Shoujo doesn't really fit the bill here. The protagonist may not be a standard one but it's not truly a revenge tale nor is he a dark person. Cross Channel is sort of close, the protagonist can be pretty dark, but he's also cheery a lot of the time and revenge isn't a part of it. There really aren't many translated VNs that could qualify. But for something completely different, you should totally watch the american political drama House of Cards, featuring a very dark anti-hero protag driven almost purely by revenge. Quote

Vokoca Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I don't like recommending this, but if you're looking for a 'dark' protagonist, you might want to wait for euphoria to get translated. Quote
Blick Winkel Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Kikokugai - The Cyber Slayer Revenge story with an anti-hero protagonist, just like what you want, and it's translated. Monmon 1 Quote
XReaper Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 i also recommend "Hello, Lady!" (untranslated) Or "Hanachirasu" (translated) Quote
FinalChaos Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Hanachirasu and Kikokugai are the ones I'm considering. I don't like recommending this, but if you're looking for a 'dark' protagonist, you might want to wait for euphoria to get translated. Quote
Vokoca Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 After looking it up in vndb ....... I have mixed feelings about it to say the least. Quote
Deep Blue Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Swan song is for sure what you are looking for. Saya no uta but you got it on your list already. Silvz 1 Quote
Silvz Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Swan song is for sure what you are looking for. Saya no uta but you got it on your list already. Have to agree. Swan Song has some pretty mad and dark characters, and since the point of view/narration changes sometimes, you can enjoy all of them It's a story about surviving a earthquake and... madness... so, yeah Quote
FinalChaos Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 I'll probably read swan song after a while. I decided to go with Hanachirasu. I will mostly read Kikokugai after that. It has some very nice psychological horror moments about subject matter hardly anything else would touch upon, with the majority of it centered on the MC and his inner conflict. It also has a pretty interesting story, being one of the better 'survival game' trope VNs - but all of that is burried under a lot of weird porn. A lot. Consider this VN as a last resort of sorts. Since I do like to see unique stuff, I will be sure to read it once it's translated. Quote
phersu Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Grisaia no Kajitsu has it's happy moments, but the main guy is fairly dark. Also badass. Definitely G-Senjou no Maou. Quote

While I do plan to read Grisaia, I don't think it would be quite suitable for what I want. Have read G-Senjou. Quote
