Just finished downloading Muv Luv and followed the instructions that came in the folder. WHen I ran step 2 it just kept asking me to mount Disc 2 even though I have, so I decided to use the Tay install guide.

Problem with that one is when I run the MUVLUV_EXTRA.ccd it sends me these images followed by a trojan warning for a SHeur3.BVUO file from AVG.

My Visual Novels folder is already added to the exceptions, and I don't know what else to do. Any help?

Unfortunately I don't read Japanese yet, so I can't divine their translations. Let me start with this, though:

1) Did you reboot Windows into Japanese non-unicode mode?

2) What version of Windows are you using?

3) Have you made sure your antivirus hasn't quarantined any important game files/install files?

Hah ok, all I had to do was add the Virtual Drive and the Install folder to the exception. Thanks for the help :)

I am worried though, a ton of trojans seem to keep popping up. Is this normal?

I use a different (commercial) antivirus, and didn't have any problems (it didn't detect anything). I'm super security-phobic, though, and have run a monitor on the files. So far Muv-Luv has been okay, but I suggest doing your homework for all the games/downloads you do.

Anybody else on the site have anything to add?

The first message translates to something along the lines of 'Muv-Luv11.exe copy of file has failed'..

The second message translates to 'Installation of Muv-Luv is incomplete, setup ended abruptly'..

Relying on my limited Japanese though, so it might mean something else~

Sorry, I have another question. How do I run the game? It's installed successfully and I exited it. I tried clicking on the virtual drive to run it and it opens to the same screen that I used to install it with and when I press game start it says it couldn't open the data.ami and it's all in Japanese.

What you'll want to do is:

  • Make sure the Muv Luv Extra CD is mounted (MUVLUV_EXTRA.xxx where "xxx" can be .img or .ccd)
  • Go to the folder where you installed Muv Luv on your harddrive
  • Open the game's .EXE file (there are only two .EXEs in the folder, and it's NOT "uninst.exe") (my computer lists it as: "マブラヴ11.exe")
  • Enjoy!

Let me know if this doesn't work!

PS: If it doesn't, PM me right away. I normally check in sporadically, so this way I'll get an email notification and come back ASAP)

I'm also having mounting problems for disc two, but it doesn't appear my antivirus (NOD32) is causing any conflicts, as I tried to temporarily disable it, and it'll still give me errors.

Do I HAVE to change my settings to Japanese, or can I run under locale? I really don't want to turn my backslash into a Yen symbol, and destroy most of musics metadata...

Edit: Installed fine after changing locale, but I can't play after changing it back, which is a shame, as '\' changes to a Yen symbol, which is a deal-breaker for me.

Look -- that change isn't permanent! The second you boot back into US locale, it'll be a slash again. Don't worry about it.

And to all future inquiries: YES! You DO have to be in Japanese locale for most VNs to work!
