Ages ago I've promised to show a photo or two from the conference in which I've tried to sell VN FTLs as a serious academic topic. It was pretty fun, although once more, I've had the pleasure to talk late in the evening as one of the last few people in the whole event. '-.-

Here's a picture of me looking suspiciously like my porn studies professor (I'm starting to think I'm morphing into a vastly inferior copy of him over time):

Anyways, thank you all for inspiring this little side-project and helping me gather the data. I hope I'll be able to make some more VN-related stuff for university sooner or later. :)

Well, I'm not sure if I care enough, it's my official university one, so it's public anyways. And if someone wants to out my in RL as this weirdo yuri-lover from Fuwa, I don't think it can beat my openly-admitted involvement with the brony fandom. It's one thing that comes with combining hobbies with research, you can't really keep it all private and I've stopped caring about that long ago. :P

And it went well, people seemed quite interested and while questions were a bit mundane (like the relation of VN translation scene to funsubbing and amateur manga/LN translations), I possibly succeeded in making them generally curious about the topic. I've also presented this to some people in fan studies circles on my own university and we had a long, nice conversation about yuri and nukige. ;)

As I'm Korean (mostly), of course I have to take the required wedding photos (my mom paid, there's no way I'd pay money for this kind of stuff) with my SO and aside from his "HERE'SSSS JOOOOHNNY" look, it's kind of lame being the ugly one in the relationship, LOL.

Have you done panels at cons? I wish there were more informative panels like this at conventions rather than the usual Cosplay Chess (guh) or dances.

Well, not at anime-themed ones. ;) I might try doing some in the future, but there are relatively few opportunities for that in my country and I'm not realy into cons enough (or rich enough) to travel abroad for them. I've made an exception twice for a close friend who's a big-name fanartist in the brony community and helped him with his panels, but he paid for my plane tickets. :D

Eerie that you should make that reference, I just watched The Shining recently. Although I disagree, I think hes making a normal face. You both are beautiful in the photo.

Sooo, a few weeks ago, during my university's Science Festival, I've given a public lecture about the rise and "fall" of VN fan translations to an impressive crowd of 4 people (+ my girlfriend and event moderator - the time of the day and awful weather made us no favours that morning). At least, the audience was pretty attentive and my GF took a few photos with her "vintage" phone - while you can barely see anything on them, I quite like the moments they captured so I've decided to share regardless. :3
